Tainted Victory
With his victory in the Giro d'Italia met with mixed views the quesion needs to be asked; will Ivan Basso ever be taken seriously again.
With Ivan Basso winning the 2010 Giro d'Italia it appears that he has come come full circle after doping charges tainted his reputation and previous Giro win in 2006. But has this win fully vindicated him, or was it just a bittersweet victory for a man who will always have question marks over his ability.
Basso himself claimed that he would prove that he could win clean, while never admitting to complete doping, it seemed that he made it his mission to prove that not all winning cyclists dope. But will anyone ever believe that he is clean, will the question marks about his ability, and the source thereof, ever disappear?
Sky Sports cycling analyst Richard Moore looks into this victory and compares Basso's past to his present to try and answer some of these questions. Click here for link to read this story
