  • YOUR LOST DOG When Sparky's on the run, his route usually involves backyards, not main streets. You'll cover more ground—and alleys—in less time on a bike than in a car.
  • YOUR YOUTHFUL FIGURE You'll not only slim down and shape up, but you'll also feel like a kid again.
  • A NEW FRIEND Check out a club ride in a different suburb. The faces and the routes will be new.
  • OLD FRIENDS Plan a weekly or monthly ride with long-time pals. Make it a tradition, with a post-ride lunch and beers to catch up on life.
  • SHORTCUTS Turn left or right whenever you feel the urge. You may just find a faster way to get from here to there. Backtrack if you get lost.
  • A KNYSNA FOREST ELEPHANT They may be hard to sport but they move surprisingly fast. So when you see one, either grab your camera and start pedaling after him or forget the camera and start pedalling away as fast as you can.
  • INNER PEACE Your spouse is squawking like a crow about something you did or should've done. Escape on two wheels to leave the nagging behind. Return refreshed—and maybe even humbled.
  • NOTHING AT ALL In keeping with the Sunday-drive tradition, which has fallen by the wayside thanks to crowded roads, fast-paced lives and precious fuel, go for a mindless meander on two wheels.
  • A BETTER VIEW At the top of a mountain, at the bottom of a valley, at the back of the pack, at the edge of an overlook, at the end of the day.
