Cannondale are past masters with aluminium, having pioneered with oversized tubing. This experience meant that they could create a bike with similar characteristics to carbon (the CAAD10). The new CAAD8 is all about the frame – they’ve taken 80g off the old one and installed a new fork. Shimano Tiagra now comes in a 10-speed, so to all intents and purposes, you get a ride quality that would have cost you R15k a few years ago.
