Had bike 1 week. Exellent responsiveness. Rear shock dt swiss seems to need very precise setting. Unlike other shocks 1cm sag specified. Still fiddling with it to get best perf.

Had it for 2 weeks and absolutly loving the bike. Changed up from a Scott Scale 50. It flies on single track and makes the ride so great. Had to play around with shock a bit to get it right but seems good now.
It is such a well balanced bike and a pleasure to ride.

This is a beast of a bike…still getting use to the remote lock out…had to tweak the back shock but as soon as you have that down it handles like a dream… worth every penny!!!
    Happy trails..

Had this bike for about four weeks now, the suspension needs to be carefully tuned but once dialed in this bike is amazing!! Fast, handles like a dream and at this price point the components are brilliant!

I bought the full carbon XL 2012 model and love it, rode the Joberg2c and Sani2c on it and it was a pleasure, I used to ride a 2010 Specialized Epic Marathon 26” XL and will not go back, value for money and ease of repair and service. Upgrade the wheels and tyres and you have a winning formula.

I bought the 2012 Scott Spark Team and I dont mean to be a party pooper but the handling is bad. The front end is so loose and it does not like turning. I know it is the model below the Elite but surely it cannot be that much different. I will take any advice to get it fixed or set up correctly. The shop I bought it from in Cape Town cant help for some reason? They say that’s the way it is? I’m sure a fork set up should do the trick. Any ideas?

I love the elite! Shorten the handle bars and it rides like a 26er in the single track…..Great bike for an awesome price!

Got mine this weekend upgrading from the Scale Team 29er. Pumped fork and rear shock to the recomended presures and off i went only having to teak the rebound settings on my 1st ride. Great through the rough stuff and single track, Remote twin lockout mounted on handle bars very good no need the bend over to turn levers.

Also had a look at this bike last week. Where can I get the best deal in Gauteng?

Average bike. Fair value for money if you can get a discount. Good components. Rubbish wheels – too much flex – either the spokes need to be tightened more ( this can cause the threads to strip or spokes to snap), or tougher spokes need to be fitted to obtain some rigidity.
I’ve done Sani2C, 4 events and some training rides; now the the rear bushing on the Rear shock is worn, causing play in the rear suspension.
There is a huge amount of flex in the frame (mine being an XL), which is unnerving on technical downhills.
Remote lockout is a pleasure – I use it all the time.
Dual sus is way overrated, especially on such a medium spec bike. Knowing what I know now and given the same budget, I would have opted for a hardtail ( possibly Carbon ??) – the lack of flex in the hardtail’s frame and the weight saving will provide a huge advantage in any event.
    Anyone keen to swop ?

Bought mine in Feb,came from a giant hardtail and decided to go dual, very nice bike,i find the handling excellent, the saga of the rims holds true as one of our club members has folded two rims in half ,both in the front. For my riding style the twin lock out is superb.

@ Alan – Linden cycles. You can always get the price slightly lower from Cajees but dont let them service it. I had them convert to tubeless and took it back 3 times before they eventually gave me a refund on the tubeless. Great bike and extremely happy with performance. Twin lockout makes huge difference on flats and climbing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have the 2012 spark Team 29er , upgraded some specs to XT, changed the tyres and have no problem with the tubeless, find that the bike handles quite well and has good speed on downhill and flat.

Very good bike. Bought mine in Nov 2011, I never experienced a problem with this bike during the race, upgraded wheels, now I use Mavic 29crossmax.Like everything this bike also have a week point. During the training I bend left brake lever and I was battling to get a new one almost 6 months.Avid SA doesn’t keep a stock of parts this particular model, Avid Elixir 5S.
My next Scott will have Shimano breaking system.
