I was in the market for a 29er after much deliberation to migrate from a 26er dual sus. I did some extensive research on pricing, functionality, carbon vs. alloy, dual sus or hard-tail, etc.
The choice eventually went in favour of the VIDA1 simply based on spec and weight and of course a saving of R10 000.00 over carbon. There was a bit of hesitation with the choice having ridden only carbon 29er hard-tails. The true test was when taking delivery of the new alloy pony and putting it through its paces on a well known trail. If anyone has reservations of a hard-tail doing single track and the rough stuff, then they need to ride the Silverback Vida1, simply awesome. A 20km trail that usually takes 60 minutes to complete on my 26er dual sus, now reflects a time of 50 minutes with less effort. This is the result of the first ride, I can imagine the results once more practice is logged. I will post further updates follow a few more rides and having more practice.
