Specialized and McLaren unveiled their new aero road bike to the world’s press today.
The launch took place at the Formula One team’s HQ, two days ahead of Milan-San Remo, where Mark Cavendish will ride the bike for the first time in competition.
There are two separate models: the McLaren Venge and the S-Works Venge. The McLaren frame uses the team’s knowledge of carbon fibre layering to create a different frame to the one badged more clearly as a Specialized. All frames will be made in the Specialized production facility.
Three riders from each of Specialized’s three World Tour teams will ride the McLaren bike in the Italian classic on Saturday: HTC-Highroad, Astana and Saxo Bank-Sungard.
