The all-new Giant Anthem 2 29er is fast, versatile and appreciably well-specced for where it’s positioned in the range – not to mention its confidence-inspiring geometry, which is truly flattering in a serpentine environment.

Grate ride…I have done a few ultras i.e. Trans Karoo up and down, Trans Baviaans but yesterdays Amarider 100 Miler are within my top 2. Route was well marked and the 5 water points was well spaced. The coffee and rusks was a winner at b/fast water point and the soup and pasta salad for lunch went of well. We had roling hills, long open riding, “sinkplaat wat skrik vir niks”, thick sand, steep climes and the best weather one can ask for. Count us in for next year :)
I’m 52 years old and started cycling 2 years ago. My first event was the 50 miler last year where I finished in 5:40 +.
Now the 50 miler is my motivation to train more as I’d like to improve my previous time and despite wind and weather in general, I finished about 30 minutes better than 2013 and will definitely be back in 2015 to better my time with at least another 30 minutes or better.
My goal is to complete the 100 mile before or at the age of 55.
This is a great event and I’ll definitely be there every year for as long as I can sit on my bicycle.
Thanks to the organisers for a fantastic well organised event.
Did the 50 miler, 2nd year in a row (too much of a woosie to do the 100 miler)
So so route (but there is not much else to choose from in the area), the wind / weather is what makes this one tough. Just finished before the rain came bucketing down, but could take shelter under the Tent.
Still, I’ll be back again next year!!
