The race number was handed over in a brown envelope with a sample bottle of shower gel and a bottle of water. It really is a sad state of affairs considering that the race cost more than R300. It comes across as a money making exercise.

Once again the riders doing the 105km race had to deal with riders doing the shorter distance. It really is disappointing having to cut through 1000′s people who are blissfully unaware of the concept of keeping left. Its dangerous.

We were told that all potholes were marked. This def. wasn’t the case. There were numerous potholes that were not marked. The m4 is in a pathetic state and the race organisers should work on repairing it for next year.

For us Durbanites this is a 1 of 3 road relatively big races on our calender. So we have no choice. For people coming to Durban for the race specifically… Don’t bother there are far better races in Cape Town and JHB… and Bloem for that matter.

I really enjoyed the race. Easier than The Argus, but nice and fast. I do agree with D Patel that mixing the fun ride and the full race is a major problem. Also where we had to cross the river was extremely dangerous and not as indicated on the route map. I had to dodge a bus!

More needs to be done for the pre-race expo though. Very sad that all we had was one retail store to try and spend our money at and then they only had one till point.

I will be back next year though.

Enjoyed the race. Tough climb up to Pinetown. Saw many potholes but no pink spray paint that was constantly being announced at the start! How did you get this wrong? Agree with the safety of faster riders coming into contact with the slower fund riders. Both have their place but it was a potentially a really dangerous situation.
Don’t really care about the freebies, I do the race for the challenge! A lovely warm day and worth travelling down from JHB for.

Having driven all the way from PE(2000km return trip) I expected a little more than the brown envelope and Chinese t-shirt. Doing the 105 and then all of a sudden thousands of oblivious fun runners! clogging the route is a disaster waiting to happen. Route was nice and challenging, esp that m7 climb. Did this race purely for Argus seeding so it’ll have be amongst other considerations next year, need a little bit more convincing. Weather & atmosphere were superb.

Unfortunately,i was unable to complete the 105km race due to the very early cut off times.
Please consider us slower riders next year and if possible cant we start earlier.
I will be back next year.
