Always a great event. The heat didn’t even get to me this year! There’s always an issue with the crowds though. Super impressed with the finish area. My kids had a ball. Kudos to the organisers.

While the organisation was sublime and the location perfect I do feel cheated with the choice or route. As Erik Kleinhans mentioned in his comments that some sections were challenging I don’t in any way think this was the best MTBing this area has to offer the riders for a second. With Simonsberg and Hottentots-Holland the options to make a sublime, tough and technical mountain bikers course are there. A couple of hundred meters of single track and some totally unrideable sections don’t cut it. Endless looping through farm roads are a copout as they made up 95% of the route and this should be looked at and changed for 2014.

Being my first MTB race, it was tough, with the heat playing a major role.
Overall, the 1st 22km’s were lovely, but the hills were taxing.
    Lovely venue and well organised

The organization was great. The venue and facilities were fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the 35km route. Given the number of riders, the vineyard tracks gave ample opportunity to pass slower riders.
