Rode the 78km. Bit tough during the final 10km but more a fitness thing than anything.
Great single track, bridge crossings, scenery.
You have to add this to your calendar for 2013 – Training for this race is a MUST.
Did the 40km, was amazing and will do it next year again!!! Love
Did the 40km race. A very good variation between single track, jeep track, river & bridge crossings, steep uphills and exhilarating downhills all with beautiful scenery. I found the 1st 10km a bit frustrating (maybe because I started at the back) – but there was a huge build-up of riders on the first few single tracks and had to wait for about 10-15min in a line to get going. (could be some of the slower 10 and 20km riders but you need to investigate this for next years race).
The overall organisation of the events was very good – I would maybe suggest giving riders a First Ascent / Big Induna branded medal rather than a key ring :)
Will ride it again.
Please try and split the start of the 40km and the 20km. It will make a world of diffirence in traffic. Apart from the numbers that causes congestion, the 20km riders are ussually younger and less experienced through the narrow sections.
I did the 40km, really enjoyed it i agree that the 40km and 20km should start at different times as this was quite fustrating. But well done to Jaco and the guys it was a lovely track to ride i will be back next year.
40km was a fantastic ride, just the start should be split and beter controlled. Although I managed to get to the front, lots of riders joined in on the tar, which was not the start line.
Did the 78km with father-in law,
The beach sand around the river is alot of fun.
The last couple of ks were gruelling
