[media-credit name="http://www.qhubeka.org/2012/" align="aligncenter" width="640"][/media-credit]The UCI announced yesterday that SA’s Team MTN-Qhubeka has been granted a Pro Continental licence for 2013, which makes them Africa’s first-ever Professional Continental team.

Team Colombia and Team Type 1 have also been registered as ProConti teams. The three teams join the likes of Accent Jobs-Wanty; Androni Giocattoli; Caja Rural; CCC Polsat Polkowice; Cofidis, Solutions Crédits; IAM Cycling; Landbouwkrediet-Euphony; Sojasun; Team Europcar; Team Netapp-Endura; Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise; UnitedHealthCare Professional Cycling Team and Vini Fantini who had already been granted licences earlier this month.
The UCI has also confirmed that the Licences Commission will make a decision concerning the awarding of the remainder of the UCI ProTeam Licences (first division) on 10th December as well as for the remaining Professional Continental Teams.
The eight ProTeams that have already been registered for 2013 are :Astana Pro Team; BMC Racing Team; Cannondale; Lampre-Merida; Omega Pharma-Quick Step Cycling Team; Orica GreenEdge; Sky ProCycling; Vacansoleil DCM Pro Cycling Team.
