Bicycling reader Rowan Aronstam set himself a personal challenge this past weekend; to ride 400km in four days. Do you have a challenge of your own to share?
On Friday I had this crazy idea to set myself a personal challenge to try do 400km in four days, as it was a long weekend.
I have been fairly lazy and slack during winter so I thought what have I got to lose? I also bought a new saddle in the week and decided to give it a good test.
So on Saturday I cycled 100km, Sunday a nice 140km, Monday 70km (I had a meeting at 8am that I could not move, and on Tuesday I did 95km. All of this was fuelled by three servings of 32gi and 1x packet of their soft chews, and 1x bottle of water.
Here are some of the stats from my weekend on the bike :
Distance: 405.2km
Time: 16h37min
Climbing: 3930m
kCal: 8744
Ave speed: 24.9km/h
The pace was nice and relaxed – as you can see. I did all the rides in the morning, some starting at 04h20, as I had to make time for the family too!
Then I finished it off with a a chilled 5km run this morning!
A great way to get back into training.
Do you have a personal challenge/goal you would like to share with us? Whether you are still attempting it, or have achieved it, send us your story and we will publish it online.

I’m doing my first MTB rave this weekend, it is only a small 30km race, but my objective is not to bail… haha
Is an MTB rave where you dress in skimpy clothes, take pot, and dance on your bikes waving your arms about like lunatics?
Seriously, good luck.
HAHAHA… I guess that is how a rave will be like… And after that I’ll do a race as well…
