There is good news for riders wishing to participate as CyclingSA-MTB has taken the decision this week that there will not be a participation quota, and that all riders who wish to enter, may enter.
Cycling SA has opened the African Continental Champs up for maximum participation to create greater opportunities and to be of greater benefit to our riders and to our sport.
The African Continental Championships is listed as a selection race and provides a greater opportunity for riders who may not make a quota team, to display their performance.
All riders, and in all the standard age categories, that wish to participate may now go ahead and enter here. Online pre-entries close on Wednesday 6 March at midnight. Late entries will be accepted at registration for both the XCO and DHI.
Cycling SA reiterates that participants wanting to race in the UCI MTB Masters World Championships must not enter as an elite category cyclist, but they must enter and race in their correct age group category. Masters will not be allowed to race in the masters’ world championship event in August if they have earned UCI points this year.
While there will not be a selected team, riders in the Junior, under-23 and Elite categories will be required to ride in official RSA riding kit. For those riders who do not have kit, or need to order a new set, you are requested to urgently send an email to Dellah Paul on firstname.lastname@example.org with your requirements and sizes.
