NEWS: Armstrong Adds Star Lawyers to Legal Team

Lance Armstrong has announced that lawyers John Keker and Elliot Peters would join his defense against doping allegations.

Keker is known for prosecuting Oliver North for his part in the Iran-Contra affair. And Peters, along with Keker, recently represented Major League Baseball players and successfully had doping tests thrown out of court.

In their baseball case, the two San Francisco-based lawyers faced off against Jeff Novitzky, who is also leading a federal probe into whether Armstrong doped.

The addition to his legal team comes just days after CBS’s 60 Minutes aired an interview with former-Armstrong teammate Tyler Hamilton who described widespread, systematic doping on Armstrong’s U.S. Postal squad.

…Keker on Thursday criticized leaks of testimony to the media in the Armstrong case and called the investigation a waste of money.

“We know Novitzky and plan to prove that these are his repeated, illegal leaks aimed solely at destroying a true hero, not just in sports but in the fight against cancer,” he said. “That the government is spending tax money investigating long ago bike races in Europe is an outrage.”

Armstrong turns to winning defence team in doping case.
