What We Thought: The EMX5's ride clearly adheres to Merckx's heritage—a roll-up-the-shirt-sleeves-and-get-'er-done quality. There's some rumbling through the frame; the rough edges aren't polished clean. We're not sure we'd want it any other way. In essence, the EMX5 doesn't telegraph its speed; it simply executes.
