The Karoo has always been a majestic part of our country – the vast plains and endless open spaces have a way of feeding your inner soul! Sleeping under clear skies and with stunning views of the Milky Way, highlights only a small part of the Trek2Teebus MTB weekend experience. Mountain bikers will discover the full diversity of the Karoo Heartland and inhale the crystal clear air, while riding the foothills of the majestic Suurberg Mountains.

The routes

With the race village right up in the Northern part of the Eastern Cape, 12km west of Steynsburg, it creates the perfect opportunity to ride different landscapes over the three days.

On the first day riders will cross private farmlands and district roads, and they will enjoy spectacular views of the vast plains of the Karoo and iconic Teebus. The route covers 72km and 1030m elevation.

The second day brings with it the challenging Bulhoek Pass – 5,5km’s with 400m ascent. This is where King and Queen of the Mountain will be battled out. Riders will cross private farms again, until they reach a steep technical drop into a beautiful Kloof, heading back to the race village. Riders will be covering 55km and 980m elevation.

Day Three will take riders out on district roads through beautiful Karoo landscapes to the special feature of the race – the service tunnel of the Orange-Fish Aqua duct, down and back out again. The route will then take riders to the tunnel outlet and crossing the channel before heading home with great memories. The route is 80km long with 780m elevation.

Fun in the Karoo sun

Trek2Teebus 2018 will be the inaugural race. The idea behind the event is to bring people together to experience Karoo hospitality. Exceptional food, luxury tented accommodation, a fully stocked chill zone and goodie bag including a race garment, free bike wash & lube and mechanical assistance will form part of the experience. This event promises to be one of the greatest value-for-money events in South Africa, and since riders have to travel far to participate, race organisers are eager to make the event worth the trip! Extra tents for supporters and family members can also be booked.
