Flashmob in London Cheers Cyclists

Enthusiastic fans encourage riders on their way to work. – By Molly Hurford

Have you ever felt like a hero on your commute? Maybe you braved the coldest day of the year, or perfectly balanced a stack of books on your way to and from the office. Maybe you just looked wicked sharp while pedaling in your tweed suit. Whatever the case may be, that heroic feeling should be celebrated—at least, that’s what this flashmob in London thought.

The group decided to brighten up cyclists’ morning commutes by acting like spirited Tour-de-France race fans. They cheered commuters on by running alongside them, holding up signs, begging for autographs, and generally acting like crazed cycling aficionados. At a time when we’re often defending our right to the road, it’s nice to see some celebration for cyclists who bike to work.

We love the idea of celebrating all kinds of cycling every day, and the group’s hashtag, #CyclistsAreHeroes, is a great way of highlighting that passion, no matter how fast or far you’re going.
