SUMMARY:Gamka Heritage Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Gamka Heritage Challenge is a unique Mtb race with routes from Celebratio Venue in and around the Gamka Oos Area. In addition to the Mtb race there is also a Trail Run. \nThe race will start and finish at Celebratio Pomegranate Farm near Calitzdorp and will take riders on gravel roads in the Gamka Oos area. Today Celebratio successfully grows and exports pomegranates. Gerhard permanently moved to the farm in October 2017. Since then he has been busy establishing an eco tourism leg to the farm. His dream is to make Celebratio a landmark in the Little Karoo with an offering second to none. The function venue is up and running\, one can book a farm stay in one of the cottages or manor house on the farm or attend a music concert under the magical Little Karoo night sky\nBack at Celebratio\, Our Race Village\, you can enjoy a good meal\, an ice cold beer and even fresh pomegranate juice!! SUMMARY:Dorp2Dorp - MTB / Gravel Experience
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the very first in the REVIVE ADVENTURES series of discovering SA’s hidden gems (people and places) via your MTB\, gravel bike\, or if you are special\, Unicycle! \nDorp2Dorp will be a flat out race for some\, a challenge for others and a ‘social’ weekend for even more of you. While the route is challenging – it is the beauty of the route that we are promoting\, not the toughness of it. We would like to warn you however\, this is not easy and may well be the 30th\, 28th or maybe even the 27th toughest race somewhere in the Western Cape or the World! (But who cares).

SUMMARY:Swartberg100 Gravel Fondo [POSTPONED]
DESCRIPTION:To read the full statement about the postponement\, click here \n\nThe Swartberg100 Gran Fondo starts and ends in Prince Albert\, arguably one of the most attractive Karoo towns in South Africa\, it covers 170 km of which there are 3 gravel sectors covering 79 km. The final climb is over the gravel Swartberg Pass\, a relentless climb of 28 km\, the last 9.8 km being on gravel with gradients of 16% in places. \nThe Swartberg100\, in true South African tradition\, will be one of the toughest Gran Fondo’s in the world. We have created a course that goes back to the days of old when mountain passes were all gravel and brave cyclists climbed them on single speed bikes weighing in at 16 kg. A course that allows us to pit our modern training knowledge and technology against an old foe\, a road surface that isn’t always friendly. \nChoose your weapon carefully for this race\, too much rubber could slow you down\, too little could make the gravel sectors a lot tougher. Watch those gears\, not enough top end and you’ll spin out on the flats\, not enough bottom end and you’ll be walking up those 16% inclines. – Bike choice is key… \nThe Gran Fondo\n– 170 kilometres\, 3000 metres of ascent\, 79 kilometres of gravel in 3 Sectors.\n- The last 2 km to the Swartberg summit is at an average gradient of 12%\n– The summit is at the 150km mark\, from there it’s a nail-biting 20km descent into Prince Albert\n– The start gun goes at 7am (Sunrise)\n– Cut off at the end is at 5pm\n– If you don’t make water-point 3 by 2:10 pm the sweep bus will take you home.\n- Finishing this race is an achievement. \nThe Medio Fondo\nExact Measurements:\n– 53.75km and 389 metres of ascent.\n- A flat fast route an average rider will easily complete in 2.5 hours. \nThe Staffetta\nStaffetta is Italian for “relay race”\, we thought we would keep to the Italian theme\, after all it was the Italians who came up with the idea of a Gran Fondo\, a fun race\, a great challenge for all riders\, professional to amateur to enjoy together\, back in 1970 in the small town of Cesenatico\, home of Marco Pantani.\n\nThe e-Fondo\nSwartberg Pass provides a great challenge for e-bike riders\, spectacular climbing over 65km on a morning outing on your e-bike. You can race it\, but you will need to conserve battery power and plan your tactics well. Or … you can just ride it and enjoy the scenery in a safe environment with medics\, marshalls and water points to help you on your way. \n65km and 1900m of climbing

SUMMARY:Wilro Lions Gravel Grinder [POSTPONED]

Entries already received will remain valid for the future date\, but entrants wanting a refund will be advised of the process in due course. \n\nThere are a few reasons we have changed from a Road cycling event\, to a Gravel event. \nThe main reason is the deterioration of the tar roads along the route of the race and\, therefore\, the safety of the participants. \nSO WE OPTED FOR A GRAVEL RACE. \nPRE ENTRIES CLOSE 12 April 2020 @ 18h00. \nA CSA/CGC sanctioned event\nOnline entries: http://cycleevents.co.za\nAn admin fee of R50 will be levied for Late Entries(after 12 April)\nMedals to all finishers & Spot Prizes Galore!

SUMMARY:Cullinan2Tonteldoos [POSTPONED]
DESCRIPTION:Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and following the stringent requirements enforced by government banning mass gatherings over 100 participants\, Advendurance regrets to announce the postponement of the Cullinan to Tonteldoos Mtb Ultra. The ban spans 30 days starting 18 March and as such this event falls within this period. \nThe new date will be announced in this week and entries will automatically be transferred to the new date. Due to the costs already incurred for this event and in accordance with Advendurance’s refund policy\, refunds can unfortunately not be made\, but substitutions will also be available. \nThis turn of events is completely unforeseen\, unfortunate\, highly annoying and beyond our control and Advendurance appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding in this matter. \n\nThe Cullinan to Tonteldoos MTB Ultra Single Stage event will take riders and their support crews over 260km of unmarked district roads. The journey starts from Cullinan in Gauteng to Tonteldoos\, a small settlement in the Mpumalanga Highlands. This race takes your through unspoilt scenery from the old-mine village on an open gravel road that will both challenge you mentally and physically. This race is especially exceptional because it takes you from the afternoon straight through to the next day. The  race village at the finish has a beautiful setting in the Highlands where participants and supporters can truly relax after the challenge and long day spent on your saddle. \nDate: 17 & 18 April 2020\nDistance: 255km\nStart: Cullinan\nFinish: Dunkeld Country & Equestrian Estate\, Dullstroom.\nElevation gain: 3200m ascent over the total distance\nRace cut-off: 24 hours \nClick here to enter

SUMMARY:The Greyton Pie Run MTB Gravel Grinder
DESCRIPTION:The Pie Run Gravel Grinder is a charity event with all proceeds being split between the GGMTB Kids Riding Club and the GGMTB Club. All funds received by the GGMTB Club go directly back into trail building and trail maintenance. \nGreyton Mountain Bikers are pleased to present the second running of the 76 and 30 km gravel grinder event in September 2019. \nAfter the success of last year’s event and very positive feedback received from entrants\, we are putting on the same event and attempting to set the standard even higher than before. The event caters for both pure gravel grinders and mountain bikers to cycle stunningly scenic gravel roads through the Overberg countryside in the late spring season. Wheat and barley fields\, yellow flowering canola and blue cranes against the backdrop of the magnificent Riviersonderend mountain range will delight all participants. This is a supported race with three fully stocked refreshment points for the longer distance and one for the shorter ride. The voluntary stop in Riviersonderend for a “pie and coffee” at the Ou Meul is a must and will energize you for the return leg of the race. \nFor those persons returning to do the event for a second time\, please note a change in start/finish venue which will now be at the newly opened Hub & Spoke MTB Café in DS Botha Street. \nGreyton Village market has grown in stature since last year and will provide a great interlude for family and friends not taking part in the event\, along with all the other attractions and entertainment offerings in the village. \nLook out for accommodation specials in Greyton Village for Pie Run participants if you are planning to spend the weekend in Greyton. \nProceeds from the race are used for the local kids cycling development program which has been running for six years and provides cycling equipment\, cycling outings and MTB training for youngsters from our local community. \nLate entries will be accepted on race morning with a late entry fee of R50. \nRace briefing will take place 15 minutes before the start of each batch.

SUMMARY:Steeple CX Cup Race Series #7
DESCRIPTION:Whether it’s a CX\, gravel or MTB bike you own\, the Steeple CX Cup cyclocross series is short course off-road racing at its best. Races last no longer than 30 mins for the social riders and 45 minutes for the racing class. But don’t think it’s easy… it’s fast\, furious and a whole lotta adrenaline-fuelled fun. \nWhat is cyclocross all about? \nSteeple	CX Cup is all about bringing the rich hertitage	of cyclocross to you with an African twist. Cyclocross has	its roots in northern France and Belgium where road riders would race across frozen fields and roads to	keep fit during winter. They often raced	between	towns with only	the church steeple as their guide. Rules were few\, and so	obstacles came into the	mix as riders took the	shortest route to the steeple. \nToday cyclocross or CX is raced all over the world on courses made up of mixed terrains	with obstacles.	Courses	are	2.5 to 3.5km long and races are	timed\, with times being	based on the course difficulty on the day. \nThis exciting form of racing offers a unique format with undulating courses which test bike skills and deliver fitness	gains like nothing else. All this while	having	fun\, racing your mates and challenging for better seeding	and overall series points. \nCyclocross bikes are the most effective	weapons of choice\, but CX does not discriminate	and so all geared bikes	are	allowed.

SUMMARY:Steeple CX Cup Race Series #3

SUMMARY:Amarider 50 & 100 Miler
DESCRIPTION:Is riding 100 miles off road on your bucket list? \nIf so\, the eleventh edition of The Amarider 100Miler\, presented by The Bike Hub is the perfect race to get it done. Held in Malmesbury on the 13th of April\, this race is the ultimate Swartland meander offering dirt road riding around the Kasteelberg and surrounds. \nWhat makes this the perfect 100 Mile intro? \nIt’s accessible. With the start and finish in Malmesbury you don’t have to bother with transport and you can drive to the start in the morning. Shop around\, this race offers great value and your entry fee includes on-route breakfast and lunch points. \nApart from a large race support contingent\, your supporters can assist you at 4 easy to reach Spectator points on the day. This makes it perfect for your family and friends to be part of the day and allows you to break your effort into achievable segments. \nThe route consists predominantly of flowing and fast-rolling dirt road. With 2400m of climbing over the day\, it certainly is not flat but very few riders struggle to make cut-off. \nThe cause. Proceeds of the race goes towards Amarider’s advocacy efforts and over the past years have made projects like the recent opening of new trails on Table Mountain possible. \nThis individual one-day mountain bike ultra-marathon of 160km is affordable and a very special event. From the humbling beginnings that grew in 2009 to what is now one of the must-do-events on the mountain biking calendar. The scenery is beautiful in the Swartland during Autumn and the riding is not technical. The weather conditions play a major role in testing your endurance\, as mud\, wind or rain do on most outdoor events. \nThis is a CSA Sanctioned event and CSA membership is required in order to start in the first starting group per distance. If you do not have CSA membership and would like to start in the first group please contact CSA and get your membership before entering. Please note all CSA and UCI rules apply. Read here! \nThis event will start early morning just as the sun is rising\, with astounding scenery that is spellbound to keep the legs going for many hours. Only pre-entries will be accepted for both distances. Entries are limited and remember that this is a seeding event for Stellenbosch MTB Challenge 2019. \nThe 160km (100Miler) route is divided into three sections of approximately 55km with two compulsory timing checkpoints. The format of the race creates perfect vantage points for spectators and support. While the competition is based on solo riders completing the entire course these riders can form 4-man teams and enjoy a day out with mates on a saddle (of course)! The team results will be based on the 4th rider crossing the line thereby encouraging teamwork and camaraderie. \nThe shorter route option: \nThe shorter route option of the 50Miler (80km)\, starts at the halfway mark at Riebeeck Kasteel and ends with the 100Miler riders at the Malmesbury Showgrounds. This event also provides an opportunity for keen riders to taste endurance riding along with twist and turns against the clock.
