DESCRIPTION:With three successful years behind it’s back\, the Fairtree Simonsberg Contour 2 Day MTB Event has gone from the newbie on the calendar to a firm favourite and must-do event for all mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Originally created to continue the development of routes and to showcase the incredible network of single-track trails on the Simonsberg Mountain\, the region has become a hotspot for trail runners and mountain bikers alike through the continued support of Fairtree Capital. \nDirtopia has spent the last 5 years developing new routes on Delheim\, Muratie\, Warwick and Uitkyk wine estates. These trails are now operated in partnership with the landowners with the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy being the primary beneficiary. The conservancy represents more than 20 farms around the mountain and is currently focused on a multi-million-rand alien clearing project to return large tracts of the mountain to fynbos and renosterveld. \nThere is no better time to be out in the winelands as harvest season will be in full swing in surrounding vineyards. The MTB two-day event will take place on 2 & 3 Feb 2019 with a 60km and 40km route on offer for both Saturday and Sunday\, with the two day’s riding taking place on separate trails on the vast network. Do both days\, mix it up or do only one day – your choice! \nThe event will start and finish on Delvera Wine farm where riders and runners will be treated to breakfast the morning before the activities start and lunch once you’ve crossed the finish line. As always there will be a wonderful area to relax after their ride\, with showers\, a bike park\, bike wash & lube station and a massage service on offer. There will also be a kiddie’s entertainment area with the option for supporters to join for lunch by buying a food ticket. And yes\, great coffee and the best beers will be served on the day. \nEach participant will receive a goody bag and coffee\, breakfast snack and daily lunch buffet. Good refreshment stations will be fully stocked with cold drinks and a wide range of savoury snacks and fruit. \nThe Fairtree Contour events have been created to continue the development of routes and expose the incredible network of single-track trails on the Simonsberg Mountain. With over 30km of mountain singletrack\, connecting more than 10 wine estates\, the region is a hot spot for mountain bike trail riders. Parts of the route will also be used in the 2019 ABSA Cape Epic Stage 6. \nEarly bird entries have already opened. Enter before 31 December 2018 to qualify for the discounted fees that the exact same fees as 2018 with full cost fees coming into effect on 1 Jan 2019. The route is mostly gravel roads with some dual tracks. \n35KM MTB RACE:\nThis is a stunning route through the neighboring farms and over the picturesque hills and up the famous Aloe Avenue Climb.  \n70KM MTB RACE:\nThe 70km route starts off with the same route as the 35km riders and just before you’re back at the race village it splits off into a new section. You will be rewarded with stunning views\, extended singletracks and nice flowing downhills back!

DESCRIPTION:If you’re looking to ride a unique MTB experience in 2019\, then the Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse is the event for you. On 23 & 24 February\, 2019\, enter as a 2-man team (R1800.00 per team) or single rider (R1000.00) on this two-day event. Hosted by The Lions of Gansbaai\, the L2L has been running for 18 years with all proceeds going to charity projects in the Southern Cape. \nThis unique race includes the following:\n• Ride from Danger Point lighthouse (Gansbaai) to the southernmost tip of Africa\, the L’ Agulhas lighthouse.\n• Day 1 is 118km with 1200m ascent. The new (improved) route sees riders stick to scenic routes along the beach; through open plains; and through some wooded kloofs. (The sandy\, rutted tracks of the past have been ditched for faster off-road tracks).\n• After camping at Cape Agulhas for the Saturday evening (families welcome to join) riders tackle the shorter 93km return route back to Danger Point. \nIn addition to its own unique community and family-based flavour\, The L2L is the ideal training ride for those who have entered endurance events later in the year. DESCRIPTION:The Kamberg Classic MTB & Trail at Glengarry has firmly established itself as one of the best events on the KZN Calendar. Andrew Hill winner of the 2018 event said on Twitter after the race\, “Superb trail rivaling the best races in the country” and one of Bicycling Mag’s “must do” races last year. As a result the Kamberg Classic has been included in the 2019 Quattro ROAG Series.  \nThe Kamberg Classic is hosted by Glengarry\, therefore despite its stature as an elite race it remains a boutique event with great hospitality and personal touches. The Trail Run (6km & 14km) takes place on Saturday afternoon\, 30 March at 2pm followed by a potjie evening around the Glengarry Pub. The MTB race (24.5km\, 45km & 65km) is held on Sunday morning\, 31 March after which riders can enjoy complimentary homemade burgers in an exquisite environment. Plus\, the first 100 entrants (65km MTB) will receive the very popular Kamberg Classic garment.  \nThe atmosphere at Glengarry is great for families and spectators. Food\, drinks and good coffee will be available and for kids there is an animal farm\, swimming pool\, jungle gyms and plenty safe space to run and ride their bikes.

DESCRIPTION:Is riding 100 miles off road on your bucket list? \nIf so\, the eleventh edition of The Amarider 100Miler\, presented by The Bike Hub is the perfect race to get it done. Held in Malmesbury on the 13th of April\, this race is the ultimate Swartland meander offering dirt road riding around the Kasteelberg and surrounds. \nWhat makes this the perfect 100 Mile intro? \nIt’s accessible. With the start and finish in Malmesbury you don’t have to bother with transport and you can drive to the start in the morning. Shop around\, this race offers great value and your entry fee includes on-route breakfast and lunch points. \nApart from a large race support contingent\, your supporters can assist you at 4 easy to reach Spectator points on the day. This makes it perfect for your family and friends to be part of the day and allows you to break your effort into achievable segments. \nThe route consists predominantly of flowing and fast-rolling dirt road. With 2400m of climbing over the day\, it certainly is not flat but very few riders struggle to make cut-off. \nThe cause. Proceeds of the race goes towards Amarider’s advocacy efforts and over the past years have made projects like the recent opening of new trails on Table Mountain possible. \nThis individual one-day mountain bike ultra-marathon of 160km is affordable and a very special event. From the humbling beginnings that grew in 2009 to what is now one of the must-do-events on the mountain biking calendar.  The scenery is beautiful in the Swartland during Autumn and the riding is not technical. The weather conditions play a major role in testing your endurance\, as mud\, wind or rain do on most outdoor events. \nThis is a CSA Sanctioned event and CSA membership is required in order to start in the first starting group per distance. If you do not have CSA membership and would like to start in the first group please contact CSA and get your membership before entering. Please note all CSA and UCI rules apply. Read here! \nThis event will start early morning just as the sun is rising\, with astounding scenery that is spellbound to keep the legs going for many hours. Only pre-entries will be accepted for both distances. Entries are limited and remember that this is a seeding event for Stellenbosch MTB Challenge 2019. \nThe 160km (100Miler) route is divided into three sections of approximately 55km with two compulsory timing checkpoints. The format of the race creates perfect vantage points for spectators and support.  While the competition is based on solo riders completing the entire course these riders can form 4-man teams and enjoy a day out with mates on a saddle (of course)! The team results will be based on the 4th rider crossing the line thereby encouraging teamwork and camaraderie. \nThe shorter route option: \nThe shorter route option of the 50Miler (80km)\, starts at the halfway mark at Riebeeck Kasteel and ends with the 100Miler riders at the Malmesbury Showgrounds.  This event also provides an opportunity for keen riders to taste endurance riding along with twist and turns against the clock.

DESCRIPTION:The Valley Xtreme MTB forms part of the Walkber Bay Xtreme festival which takes place in Hermanus. \nTHIS YEAR WE HAVE INTRODUCED AN ALL-NEW STAGE RACE MTB EVENT! Enter both Stage 1 and Stage 2 for just R700\, or choose to do a single distance on either day. \nThe trails here were originally purpose-built for the Cape Epic & Wines2Whales but have since been expanded for some seriously awesome and memorable riding through beautiful valleys and wine farms. \nThis family-friendly event caters for all levels of skill and fitness with riders being able to choose between 20km\, 35km or the 60km routes on offer. \nThrow together some tough climbing (especially on the 60km route)\, waterpoints designed to slow you down\, exhilarating vineyard trails through some of the most beautiful wine farms in the world\, technical terrain to sharpen the mind and some sweet single tracks snaking along the Onrus River\, and you are set to enjoy a MTB Challenge of Xtreme proportions while being rewarded with unbeatable views and a finish by the Old Harbour in Hermanus. \nThe trails are diverse and can be enjoyed by all levels of skill and fitness. However\, we advise you to only enter the 60km race if you are an experienced and skilled mountain biker and really keen to see where the beautiful Hemel & Aarde wines hail from.

The Demacon Max Wax MTB event features 3 events in various superlative locations across the Lowveld and a fourth in the undulating hills of Dullstroom. DESCRIPTION:Each distance of the Modderfontein MTB offer a challenge as per fitness level.  \nThe shorter distances (the 12km and the 32km) being for the beginner rider or those who want an easier ride. The trails offer the chance for riders to test their abilities on numerous single tracks twisting through the forest and savannah grasslands. This is the perfect ride for the entire family to enjoy. The riders will feel a sense of achievement once the race is completed.  \nThe 50km challenges the more experienced riders with more technical sections that the rider can test their skills over rocks. The route makes its way through an old dynamite store where the rider will make their way down a flight of stairs\, then continue down single track routes and over bridges. This ride is suited for the fitter rider. \nThe 94km route is much like that of the 50km route as riders will be completing a double loop of the 50km. this is great for riders who enjoy a longer ride. \nWater points: Each rider will experience the unique “Trail Hunter” water point. Your hunger needs will be met by many tasty treats on the water point table. Stocked with many supplies and friendly faces\, these stops should not be missed. \nLate Entries & Number Collection: Late/Line Entries & Number Collection will take place on Saturday morning at the venue from 6am onwards (Cash\, Snapscan\, Zapper\, credit card). SUMMARY:All Mountain Eduro - Uitkyk
DESCRIPTION:The second Enduro for the year is set for Uitkyk on some of our favourite trails and not to be missed.  \nStage information will be released at a later stage\, looking at 4 or 5 stages for the day. E bikes are welcome to join\, remember there needs to be more than 10 E bikes to qualify for podium. \nYou will pass the waterpoint multiple times stocked with water\, Powerade\, Coke\, jellies\, fruit\, Redbull. Return your number board to us afterwards and we will give you a free beer (or Powerade / Redbull). Something to eat afterwards will be available and that very important morning coffee will be ready on arrival. \nAt the Dirtopia Enduro\, you’ll still be climbing. We will make most of the jeeptracks and roads ‘neutral’ or ‘liaison’ sections with singletrack downhills the timed stages. The overall descent of the race will be more than the uphill. \nVenue: Uitkyk Wine Estate\, R44 Stellenbosch\nStart time: 09h00 at the venue & registration opens at 08h00\n\nEnduro Riding:\nHave you done an Enduro event?  Then you know what it is about!  If not\, then here is a summary: riders get timed only on certain sections\, which make a very social event\, especially at the refreshment station where they re-group. The atmosphere is relaxed with no rush anywhere\, except when you gun it between check points! \nTotal distance of riding not so relevant as riders ride to special stages in their own time and the timed stages are more like downhill racing\, although all type of riders can attempt it.  Protective gear recommended.  \nFour stages planned for this event. \nTiming: Have to own an Amarider Trail Tag. R100 or take a yearly Amarider membership of R225 and a Tag is included!  Watch out for the TAG POINTS at the beginning & end of each stage. \nTiming will be managed in real-time with @trailtag and riders will check in and out of the Special stages.\nThis means that riders will enter special stages 1 by 1\, so no bunfight to get trail position on the singletrack.
