DESCRIPTION:The 2018 edition of the Waterberg MTB event will see some significant changes: \n\nA new start/finish venue at ATKV Klein Kariba.\nA total revamp of some of the stages in an attempt to optimise road conditions.\nDirection change from counter-clockwise to clockwise to allow ascending Bakker’s passes.\nThe total riding distance has been shortened somewhat\, with a significant increase in climbing.\nKing/Queen of the mountain up Bakker’s Pass.  The fastest rider up the pass\, not first rider\, who still completes the event. This will only be for solo\, and 2-rider teams; no relay teams.\nRace categories will include: Solo\, 2-rider teams (covering the entire distance together)\, 2-rider relay teams\, and 4-rider relay teams.\nSignificant reduction in entry fees.\n\nThe 2018 edition of the Waterberg Traverse (previously known as the Waterberg Extreme) MTB race has found a new home at ATKV Klein Kariba\, which will serve as the start and finish venue from where riders will follow farm and district roads through the majestic Waterberg mountains. The event brings long distance mountain biking within reach of Gauteng\, North West\, and Limpopo. Some significant updates have been made to the 2018 route\, which has reduced the overall distance to 299km\, but have increase the total climbing to just over 3270m. \nEntries are limited to 250 riders; with riders being able to participate in a number of race formats. Solo and 2 Rider Teams will see riders complete the entire race distance\, where the 2 Rider Relay\, and 4 Rider Relay Teams will alternate between stages in a relay format. \nSolo riders and two rider teams will be eligible for the King/Queen of the Mountain competition that will form part of Stage 4. This will be allocated based on the fastest time ascending Bakker’s pass (not the first person to the top). Bakker’s pass will be reached at around the 150km mark\, and rises around 400m vertically; with the hill climb competition comprising 365m ascend in just under 5km. Riders with the fastest climbs\, who still complete the event\, will be eligible for prizes. Separate competitions will be hosted for Solo riders and 2Rider teams. No post_id and/or template

Cycle between the small villages of Great Brakriver and Little Brakriver\, mostly on a private farm on jeep tracks\, single tracks and gravel roads right next to the Big 5 Game Reserve Botlierskop. You might spot some Game while you cycle. Enjoy the new Klipheuwel MTB Park and great single track sections. Day 2 – 45km: Cycle from Arendsrus Country Lodge at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains. Cycle between on jeep tracks and gravel roads on MTO property at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains. SUMMARY:Leopard Crawl MTB & Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Entries close 28 January 2018 at 23:00. \nThe Leopard Crawl MTB is a unique one day event\, taking place in the spectacular Little Karoo for the 15th time\, on 03 February 2018. The 12.5km trail run is a new asset to the event. \nNot only do riders and runners get a close up view of working ostrich farms\, but also get the opportunity to enter the training area of the Infantry School. This brings back good memories for many people who underwent training here. \nThe entries increase every year and the reason for that is because this is an event for the whole family. The Leopard Crawl caters for all levels of fitness from the not fit at all to the serious rider. \nThe Leopard Crawl is well known for being one of the best organized one day events in the Little Karoo with brilliant scenery and water points. \nThe 72 km (without Gongani’s Kop) is the route for the rider that loves a challenge. Almost 40 km of this event takes place in the training area of the Infantry School. Almost 80% of this is Jeep track\, crossing rifle shooting ranges\, mortar practice areas and beautiful surroundings. \nThe 32 km outside the Infantry School goes through farmlands and you will pass historical farms like Greylands\, De Zeekoe\, Safari and the Ostrich Palace\, Welgeluk. \nThere are three marvellous water points on the 72 km. The first at 26 km\, second at 47 km and the last at 59 km. \nThe 45 km route also goes through the training area of the Infantry School and joins the 72 km about 8 km before the second water point at Greylands. From there they follow the same route. \nThe 18 km is an easy route for the beginner. It joins the 72 km and 45 km at the last water point about 13 km before the end. \nEden XCM Series \nAll the MTB events form part of the Eden XCM Series and give riders the opportunity to score points early in the year. \nThe 12.5km Trail Run will give runners the best of both single track and jeep track with two water points every 4km. A camelback is not compulsory but highly recommended. Only 200 runners will be allowed to enter. \nFor the family there is a 13 km and 5 km fun ride as well as a 5 km walk. \nAt the end there is a Carnival Atmosphere awaiting the riders\, with food stalls and shade under the trees. \nThe Leopard Crawl is a family event for the weekend. Oudtshoorn has a lot of tourist attractions like the Cango Caves\, Ostrich Farms and the Cango Wildlife Ranch. No post_id and/or template

SUMMARY:Barberton XCM Mountain Bike Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The Barberton XCM Mountain bike challenge grew over the years to become one of the toughest\, if not THE toughest one-day mountain bike race that Mpumalanga or the Lowveld has to offer\, hence the slogan – NOT AS DELICATE AS A DAISY! This “not so delicate” race will be a rude awakening for those who over indulged in eating all the Festive Season treats rather than spending some time on the saddle. The race is open to cyclists of all ages\, shapes and sizes\, unfit\, fit and super fit! The race will consist out of five routes. \nBe part of one of the oldest and toughest MTB races in South Africa. The Barberton XCM is back with a race distance for every fitness level. This is not a corporate race\, but a race which is organised by the local Barberton Rotary club and serves as their annual fund raising event. Great fun for the whole family with food stalls and a beer tent at the finish area – what more do you want… ? \nPre-entries close on 21  January 2018 at 23h00.
