SUMMARY:Toyota Forklift Spring Classic
DESCRIPTION:Going into the event’s 24th year\, the Toyota Forklift Spring Classic provides a combination of a challenging ride in the 45km while still catering for beginner riders in the 25km and 10km distances. If you would like to be part of the history of mountain biking in South Africa\, enter the Toyota Spring Classic now! \n\n2019 Route Details\n\n\nAll routes start and finish at the beautiful Avianto Clubhouse on the opposite side of the river from the famed Avianto wedding venue. This is a fantastic venue for the event and is becoming a mecca for mountain biking and trail running. The wildlife that calls the area home is simply remarkable\, considering we are still in Joburg. Look out for jackals\, buck and some incredible bird life. \nThere are only small improvements to the route for 2019\, so for those of you that did the 2018 course\, you can expect virtually the same fantastic course\, with a few adjustments to make it just a little bit better. \nThe first 10 kilometers are contained in the Avianto Estate land\, starting with wide roads and jeep track\, meandering around horse paddocks and crossing over some of the dams. Overtaking in the first 5km will be a breeze sorting out the racing snakes from the fun riders.  It gets slightly more challenging after that with a short koppie thrown in\, which leads the riders back into the clubhouse area where spectators can get a quick view of the race. Riders then tackle “the wall” a short climb that is rewarded with a flowing single-track decent. The 10km riders are then treated to a great section of track next to the crocodile river which follows the river line and provides a rewarding scenic route back into the start/finish area \nThe 45km and 25km riders head of towards the N14 highway to tackle some fast district roads and some fun single-tracks. A slight reprieve awaits the riders in the Driefontein Waterworks with some fast dirt roads\, a fast dirt road descent takes the riders back towards the Syringa Motocross Track. After a refreshing Biogen waterpoint the 45km and 25km riders head up Clinic road\, towards Beyers Naude\, some great footpaths\, complete the journey to Beyers Naude and after crossing back over Clinic road about 2km of fast swopping single-track awaits the riders adjacent to the N14 highway. After a quick tour around the fence line of the Le Jardin estate\, riders then head back along the river towards the clubhouse\, 25km riders head towards the finish\, while 45km riders cross over the river at Avianto and through some new single-track towards the chapel Calvert. After crossing under Driefontein road\, riders must settle in for a 2km climb\, with a mix of jeep track and single-track sections\, once at the top a quick u-turn send the riders back down a fast single-track descent\, the route then flows along the top of the koppie treating riders to great views of the Cradle area\, another descent towards Driefontein sees riders head towards Phambili. Another Biogen waterpoint tops the riders up with the necessary to get to the finish. \nPhambili  is just short of an MTB paradise\, with great single-track and jeep track sections\, and some challenging climbs are thrown in for good measure. We have added an extra 4km section in Phambili\, which will test the skills of our 45km riders. After exiting Phambili\, riders must cross underneath Driefontein road again and into the Syringa Spa ruins\, some cool urban sections await\, along with some great single-track. Riders will cross back over the Avianto bridge where they will be able to smell the finish-line\, as they are almost home free. \nThe route is a good mix of open jeep track\, district road and lots of great single-track\, the climbs are tough but the descents make it worth it. \n\n

SUMMARY:Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 10th annual Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge & Trail Run\, sponsored by Boland SUPERSPAR. The trails will take you through the beautiful fruit farms and fynbos hidden away on top of the Piket-Bo-Berg Mountain. \nYou can enjoy fantastic food and a vibrant atmosphere – a Beer tent and shaded seating at the finish line for all our spectators welcoming riders and runners home. \nThe following routes are available: \n\nthe 63km MTB Challenge:\n\n(1 600m ascent\, 62% single-track\, 7/10 technical score).\nIdeal for experienced riders.\n\n\nthe 37km MTB Challenge:\n\n(700m ascent\, 62% single-track\,6/10 technical score).\nFor riders looking to build technical skills and fitness.\n\n\nthe 27km MTB Challenge:\n\n(594m ascent\, 44% single-track\, 4/10 technical score).\nA great introduction to our trails for fitness and skill.\n\n\nthe 12km MTB Challenge:\n\n(207m ascent\, 25% single-track\, 2/10 technical score).\nComplete with a pump track and introductory single-track.\n\n\n\nRide for a GREAT CAUSE! This event is organised by The Piket-Bo-Berg Residents Association\, the local NPO. All the funds raised through this event are invested in skills development and education\, creating a better future for all in our community. \nWe look forward to sharing our small-town hospitality with you\, while you enjoy some of the best trails on offer. \nPLEASE NOTE NO E-BIKES ALLOWED. \nNo E-go… Indeed\, after some deliberation a final call was made NOT to allow E-bikes at the Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge. The reasons are simple – due to the technical nature of the trails and the large amount of singletrack (which run through very remote mountainous areas) we would like to avoid congestion as far as possible – our trails don’t always allow for passing. Taking into account the speeds of E-bikes\, rider safety is another big concern on our technical sections. We trust you understand. However\, do stay tuned to our social channels and join our mailing list to be notified of possible future e-bike events. \nCLOSING DATE: \n\n04 September 2019.\n\nClick here for more info and to enter online

The 2019 event takes place over the weekend of 27-29 September\, hosted at the beautiful Spice Route Destination and Rhebokskloof Estate on the slopes of the Paarl Moutain. \nThe 2019 Rock Stage Race and Trail Festival is the very fortunate benefactor of a strategic partnership between Hero Adventure and the City of Drakenstein and will have access to more than 200km of trails on the magnificent Paarl Mountain over the weekend of 27-29 September. The Rock Stage Race\, organised by Hero Adventure\, presents three sublime stages ranging from 40km-54km daily. The first stage runs from Malmesbury to Paarl and the event then settles in Paarl for the second and third stages on the Paarl Mountain. At an entry fee of R1350 per rider the event has positioned itself as the ideal training ride for the FNB Wines2Whales\, which takes place a month later. \n“We really can pick and choose from the trails for The Rock this year and the end result is that more than 80% of the route will be on single track\,” said race director Darren Herbst from Hero Adventure. “We have been building trails on the Paarl Mountain for the past two years and it’s going to be wonderful to showcase the latest additions to these trails during The Rock.” Entries for The Rock are limited to 500 riders and just over 250 entries have already been received. Riders can enter solo or as two-rider teams. \nDay 1 Malmesbury – Rhebokskloof: 54km – 1300m elevation\nDay 2 Rhebokskloof – Spice Route: 43km – 950m elevation\nDay 3 Spice route – Rhebokskloof: 48km – 1300m elevation \nSaturday 28 September 2019 is the big hosting day at Spice Route Destination. The destination artisan village hosts the finish of “The Rock” MTB Stage race with live bands and lots of entertainment while the following events will also start and finish at Spice Route as part of the Trail Fest:\n07h00: 21km Trail Run\n08h45: 25km MTB Traverse\n09h15: 10km MTB Family Traverse\n10h30: 5km kiddies MTB \nThe Rock moves to Rhebokskloof Estate on Sunday 29 September with the following events starting and finishing at Rhebokskloof:\n07h15: 10km Trail Run – start and finish at Rhebokskloof\n07h30: 5km Trail Run – start and finish at Rhebokskloof\n09h00: 2km Kiddies Obstacle Trail Run – start and finish at Rhebokskloof

SUMMARY:The Greyton Pie Run MTB Gravel Grinder
DESCRIPTION:The Pie Run Gravel Grinder is a charity event with all proceeds being split between the GGMTB Kids Riding Club and the GGMTB Club. All funds received by the GGMTB Club go directly back into trail building and trail maintenance. \nGreyton Mountain Bikers are pleased to present the second running of the 76 and 30 km gravel grinder event in September 2019. \nAfter the success of last year’s event and very positive feedback received from entrants\, we are putting on the same event and attempting to set the standard even higher than before. The event caters for both pure gravel grinders and mountain bikers to cycle stunningly scenic gravel roads through the Overberg countryside in the late spring season. Wheat and barley fields\, yellow flowering canola and blue cranes against the backdrop of the magnificent Riviersonderend mountain range will delight all participants. This is a supported race with three fully stocked refreshment points for the longer distance and one for the shorter ride. The voluntary stop in Riviersonderend for a “pie and coffee” at the Ou Meul is a must and will energize you for the return leg of the race. \nFor those persons returning to do the event for a second time\, please note a change in start/finish venue which will now be at the newly opened Hub & Spoke MTB Café in DS Botha Street. \nGreyton Village market has grown in stature since last year and will provide a great interlude for family and friends not taking part in the event\, along with all the other attractions and entertainment offerings in the village. \nLook out for accommodation specials in Greyton Village for Pie Run participants if you are planning to spend the weekend in Greyton. \nProceeds from the race are used for the local kids cycling development program which has been running for six years and provides cycling equipment\, cycling outings and MTB training for youngsters from our local community. \nLate entries will be accepted on race morning with a late entry fee of R50. \nRace briefing will take place 15 minutes before the start of each batch.

SUMMARY:STBB4GOOD MTB Challenge & Twilight Run
DESCRIPTION:On 11 and 12 October 2019\, STBB4GOOD will host its 9th annual STBB4GOOD MTB Challenge (powered by Amdec) and 3rd STBB4GOOD Twilight Run. SAVE THE DATES so long; entries opening on Racetec on 11 July 2019. \nBoth sporting events’ beneficiary is Miles for Smiles\, which raises funds for Operation Smile to facilitate corrective surgery for children born with cleft lips and palates and who would otherwise be unable to afford this life-changing surgery which enables them to swallow\, speak and smile normally. Over the past two years\, R900 000 has been donated by STBB4GOOD to this cause\, which allowed for 162 corrective surgeries performed on children in South Africa subsequently. \nBoth events start and finish on the picturesque Overgaauw Wine Estate in Stellenbosch and the routes\, created on the unique Bottelary Renosterveld Conservancy\, traverse no less than 22 wine farms. \nThe event has built a reputation as a “must do” on the Western Cape mountain biking and trail running calendars due to its mix of expertly organised sporting event and fun family day out\, including a food market\, wine tasting\, craft beer stalls and kids entertainment.
