Traditionally the Tour took place around Graskop\, Mpumalanga\, but due to unsafe road conditions in that area\, the event was moved to a different venue. The new routes will provide safe roads and a completely new challenge to the loyal cyclists that part-take in the Lowveld Tour every year. It will also offer new-comers the opportunity to explore new routes in a safe and controlled environment.\nThe main feature of this Tour is stage 2\, when cyclists will face the route from Swadini towards Graskop\, leading through the Abel Erasmus Pass and JG Strijdom Tunnel. This landmark is the link between the game reserves of Limpopo and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon of Mpumalanga\, giving cyclists the opportunity to travel on the actual route used by the gold rush pioneers in the late 1800’s. Turnaround at KleinKranz +- 40 km from Knysna. Ride East back through Sedgefield +- 50 km. Turn North opposite the scenic Groenvlei Lake +- 60 km. There’s a steady climb past plantation (250 m assent) and forest to the turnaround just before the historic town of Karatara +- 82 km. Return to the N2 at Groenvlei +- 95 km. Climb the Kytersnek (heartbreak hill 150 m assent) final 2 km climb +- 104 km. Cruise East along the beautiful Knysna Lagoon road to the Knysna Finish. Continental Teams\, National teams and Local regional/professional teams will be invited to participate in the tour. The Tour will be limited to a maximum of 20 Elite teams. \nTeams will race it out for General Classification\, sprinters jersey\, king of the mountain jersey\, best young rider and most aggressive rider\, as well as overall team classification.\nThe format and route will be detailed below; prize money is per the UCI regulations and financial obligations. The tour is fully catered for teams for accommodation and meals\, for riders and support staff.\n\nVeterans Tour\nThe Veterans’ tour will also comprise of teams of 6\, with 3 support crew. Veteran teams can be made up of riders from minimum 19 years\, and will have to have 50% representation of black riders.
