The event\, organised by the Rotary Club of Paarl\, will start at a new venue\, scenic Fairview wine estate\, for the first time. It will be a seeding race for the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020 and is held under the auspices of the Pedal Power Association (PPA). \nThere will be three races\, with online registration\, timing and seeding by RaceTec. The races will start at Fairview\, on the western slope of Paarl Mountain\, and from there cyclists can travel on three routes in the rural Agter-Paarl/Klipheuwel area. \nThe first race over 97.8km starts at 06:00 (entry fee is R280\, PPA members R260). It is for more experienced riders and will be a seeding race for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The second race\, over 71.9 km\, starts at 07:00 (entry fee R260\, PPA members R240). Participants coming from Wellington will have to travel via Paarl or via Klapmuts (R44) to reach Fairview. \nThe races will finish on the Old Paarl Road (R101) near the turn-off to Fairview. Thereafter cyclists return to the wine estate\, where there will be a variety of food and beverage stalls as well as music and kiddies’ entertainment. There will also be a bike park\, so that you can lock your bike\, relax and enjoy the festivities and the lucky draw. Another feature will be trailer rides to neighbouring Spice Route\, where there is a playpark for kids. Prior booking is recommended for the restaurants at Fairview and Spice Route (Sundays are particularly busy). \nRace numbers can be collected at ASG Paarl in the Laborie Centre in Paarl on 1 February from 08:30 to 10:30 or at Chris Willemse Cycles at Willowbridge on the same day from 12:00 to 15:00. SUMMARY:STRADA24
DESCRIPTION:On 7 – 8 December 2019\, cyclists from Jozi and around the country will embark on the first ever 24 hour road cycle race in Africa! \nThe Strada24 begins at 12h00 on Saturday and ends at 12h00 on Sunday. Racers will log-off the course from 12 noon on Sunday. Each team’s final placing will be determined by the number of laps the team has completed and the sequential order of finish within the team’s last lap. For example\, a team that has completed 22 laps with a finish time of 12:31 p.m. would beat a team that completed 22 laps\, with a finish time of 12:47 p.m. And of course\, a team that completed 23 laps\, with a finish time of 1 p.m.\, would beat them both. If a racer logs- out before 12 noon and no other team member logs-in\, the last completed lap time will be the finish time. \nThe venue \nJust 55km’s from Johannesburg\, The circuit at Red Star was designed to have challenging corners that flow from the apex of one to the entry of another. This ensure a challenge for rides of all levels\, while at the same time providing spectator value.

SUMMARY:PPA Sportive 8
DESCRIPTION:The 8th race in the Sportive series for 2019. (although techically the seventh because one was postponed) \nOnline entries:  Click here to enter. Close on Thursday 28th November 2019 @midnight. \nLate entries: Available on the day of the event \nThe 86 km route will have 4 water points and the 51 km route will have 2 water points. \nMORE ABOUT THE SPORTIVE SERIES \nThis series is aimed at all cyclists\, from beginners to experienced riders\, and offers the perfect platform if you want to keep fit riding road events throughout the year\, improving your times and setting a new personal best. If you’re brave enough to take on the challenge of the longer routes\, the series is a great test for endurance and stamina …and needless to say\, completing all the events will be a great source of personal achievement. No pressure though! Each one is also a standalone event\, so you don’t have to enter all in the Sportive Series. \nFollowing this event\, there will be one more event held at Perdeberg Winery. THis is the SPortive #7 which we had postponed and will not be held on 8th of December 2019 \nTHE SPECIAL FINISHER’S TROPHY \nThis year\, we have decided to do away with medals and do something more innovative and challenging – you will get a beautiful 3D bicycle puzzle that you can assemble once you have completed all the events. The way it will work is that after each event\, you will receive a few pieces of the trophy … complete all eight events and you can assemble the little road bike on a stand. \nHowever\, even you haven’t done all the Sportive Series events\, or won’t manage to do all the events\, you’ll still be able to buy the missing pieces at a very reasonable cost at the Sportive #8. We still want everyone to have that trophy to display at their home or office.

The ride finishes at the top of Stumpnose Rock (affectionately known as Mamba Hill) with a breath-taking view of the lagoon as the backdrop. \nDIRECTION TO VENUE \nFrom Cape Town\, take the R27 (West Coast road) past Melkbosstrand. SUMMARY:Medihelp TrapNET
DESCRIPTION:Medihelp trapNET is an annual road cycle event that takes place at the iconic SuperSport Park\, Centurion. The 95km route is an official seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. \nMoving the date from its original Winter time-slot to early Spring is just one of the enhancements made by the organisers to create a better experience for the event’s participants\, who will explore the streets of Tshwane along the undulating route. Five top-quality refreshment stations along the route and finish village entertainment will maximise the experience for participants and their supporters alike\, while the prize purse of R65 000 and prizes for all category winners add to the event’s appeal. \nIn an effort to establish the Medihelp trapNET as the crown jewel of the Tshwane region\, the organisers are currently working closely with the City of Tshwane and Traffic Authorities to secure full road closure for the event. The event enjoyed 80% road closures in 2018\, but achieving full road closures during a mass participation cycle race enhances the safety of all cyclists\, while first-time participants benefit from cycling with more confidence in a controlled race environment. \nAfter the event’s successful inaugural staging in 2018\, Medihelp\, kykNET and the City of Tshwane return as event partners for 2019. The event also recently secured the support of new sponsors\, Twizza and Mango Airlines. \nImprove Seeding At Major Cycling Events \nThe Medihelp trapNET is an important event on the race calendar for those cyclists hoping to improve their seeding in other major events. \nThe Medihelp trapNET is the final cycling event that can be used to improve cyclists’ seeding for the 947 Cycle Challenge\, while the event is also an official seeding event of the 2020 Cape Town Cycle Tour. \nAction Packed Race Weekend With Expo\, Junior Race \nIn addition to the 95km challenge on Race Day\, race weekend includes activities for the whole family. After collecting their race numbers at SuperSport Park on 27 and 28 September\, participants and their families can linger a little longer and visit the race expo for the latest sports and healthy lifestyle merchandise. \nYounger cyclists will also have the opportunity to show off their skills in the trapNET Junior Challenge on Saturday\, 28 September\, during which children can complete a one\, two or three-lap course within the secure SuperSport Park precinct. Junior Challenge entries will open on 1 July. \nThe event proudly supports CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation\, the only organisation in South Africa that provides comprehensive countrywide support for children with cancer\, life-threatening blood disorders and their families. \n
