For once it’s the dads’ that must look after the kiddies and the moms and girlfriends who can have some fun. \nSound too good to be true? Read on —- Imagine a weekend where you can choose to run or ride a distance of your choice – this is a weekend designed for runners/ walkers and riders of all abilities. No impossible hills and jaw breaking roughs – but enough good trails to challenge yourself and stretch those limits. \nIf you’re single enjoy the day with your girlfriends. Day 1 – 50km: Cycle from Klipheuwel MTB Park just outside Little Brakriver. Cycle between the small villages of Great Brakriver and Little Brakriver\, mostly on a private farm on jeep tracks\, single tracks and gravel roads right next to the Big 5 Game Reserve Botlierskop. You might spot some Game while you cycle. Enjoy the new Klipheuwel MTB Park and great single track sections. Day 2 – 45km: Cycle from Arendsrus Country Lodge at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains. SUMMARY:Tour de Limpopo
DESCRIPTION:The Tour de Limpopo will be a 4 day stage race starting in the capital city of Polokwane\, heading east to the town of Tzaneen\, where riders will stay for 3 nights\, before heading back to Polokwane on the 26th April to finish the Tour at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. \nThe Tour will consist of two races\, one being a UCI Africa Tour 2.2 stage race\, and a Veterans tour following the same routes and racing as the Elite race. \nElite Race\nThe Elite race will comprise of teams of 6 riders and 3 support crew. Continental Teams\, National teams and Local regional/professional teams will be invited to participate in the tour. The Tour will be limited to a maximum of 20 Elite teams.  \nTeams will race it out for General Classification\, sprinters jersey\, king of the mountain jersey\, best young rider and most aggressive rider\, as well as overall team classification.\nThe format and route will be detailed below; prize money is per the UCI regulations and financial obligations. The tour is fully catered for teams for accommodation and meals\, for riders and support staff.\n\nVeterans Tour\nThe Veterans’ tour will also comprise of teams of 6\, with 3 support crew. Veteran teams can be made up of riders from minimum 19 years\, and will have to have 50% representation of black riders.  Cycling SA and Limpopo tourism would like teams to embrace the concept of a cohesive society\, whilst providing a platform for mentoring and the unique cultural diversity that we all have to share. \nTeam entries into the Veterans tour will be R4\,500 per rider\, which includes all accommodation and meals for the duration of the tour for all riders and support crew.  \nTeams will race it out for General Classification\, sprinters jersey\, king of the mountain jersey\, most aggressive rider\, as well as overall team classification. DESCRIPTION:The 2018 edition of the Waterberg MTB event will see some significant changes: \n\nA new start/finish venue at ATKV Klein Kariba.\nA total revamp of some of the stages in an attempt to optimise road conditions.\nDirection change from counter-clockwise to clockwise to allow ascending Bakker’s passes.\nThe total riding distance has been shortened somewhat\, with a significant increase in climbing.\nKing/Queen of the mountain up Bakker’s Pass.  The fastest rider up the pass\, not first rider\, who still completes the event. This will only be for solo\, and 2-rider teams; no relay teams.\nRace categories will include: Solo\, 2-rider teams (covering the entire distance together)\, 2-rider relay teams\, and 4-rider relay teams.\nSignificant reduction in entry fees.\n\nThe 2018 edition of the Waterberg Traverse (previously known as the Waterberg Extreme) MTB race has found a new home at ATKV Klein Kariba\, which will serve as the start and finish venue from where riders will follow farm and district roads through the majestic Waterberg mountains. The event brings long distance mountain biking within reach of Gauteng\, North West\, and Limpopo. Some significant updates have been made to the 2018 route\, which has reduced the overall distance to 299km\, but have increase the total climbing to just over 3270m. \nEntries are limited to 250 riders; with riders being able to participate in a number of race formats. Solo and 2 Rider Teams will see riders complete the entire race distance\, where the 2 Rider Relay\, and 4 Rider Relay Teams will alternate between stages in a relay format. \nSolo riders and two rider teams will be eligible for the King/Queen of the Mountain competition that will form part of Stage 4. This will be allocated based on the fastest time ascending Bakker’s pass (not the first person to the top). Bakker’s pass will be reached at around the 150km mark\, and rises around 400m vertically; with the hill climb competition comprising 365m ascend in just under 5km. Riders with the fastest climbs\, who still complete the event\, will be eligible for prizes. Separate competitions will be hosted for Solo riders and 2Rider teams. No post_id and/or template

DESCRIPTION:The Knysna Cycle Tour MTB events have become bucket list events for cyclists worldwide because of the beautiful and challenging routes\, which are set up and managed for us every year by Leon Evans (Dr Evil)\, and include access to sections of privately owned property that are normally closed to the public. \nYou will ride through sections of the Knysna Forest and scenic farmland areas\, and be exposed to the beauty of the natural fauna and flora of the exquisite Garden Route\, while testing your skills to the maximum. \nAge limits have been adjusted to ensure that fun riders have the maximum amount of FUN. \nLast year\, a 30km Electric bike route was introduced\, the first E-bike event in the country\, which was a great success\, as well as the new route for the 15 km race\, called the Ashes Fun Ride in memory of the Knysna fires. DESCRIPTION:The Momentum Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour 115km Road Race is a seeding event for the 2019 Cape Town Cycle Tour. \n115 km Route Summary: Knysna – Sedgefield – Kleinkranz and then back to Knysna via Sedgefield and Karatara. \n115 km Route Overview: \nStart in Knysna and ride along the Knysna Lagoon road\, climb Kytersnek (150 m ascent) and descend into Gouna Valley\nProceed through Sedgefield past Swartvlei. Turnaround at KleinKranz +- 40 km from Knysna. Ride East back through Sedgefield +- 50 km. Turn North opposite the scenic Groenvlei Lake +- 60 km. There’s a steady climb past plantation (250 m assent) and forest to the turnaround just before the historic town of Karatara +- 82 km. Return to the N2 at Groenvlei +- 95 km. Climb the Kytersnek (heartbreak hill 150 m assent) final 2 km climb +- 104 km. Cruise East along the beautiful Knysna Lagoon road to the Knysna Finish. Total distance +- 115 km \nThe route does have some dangerous sections. SUMMARY:Buco Grahamstown To Sea (G2C)
DESCRIPTION:The first few kilometers of the Grahamstown to Sea include a climb up Mountain Drive from Grahamstown industrial area. There is a rocky single track down from the Toposcope which can be a bit hair raising for some. The decent down the valley on the Southwell road is steep but it is tarred. It is important to keep left and keep a slow pace in the blind corners. The rest of the route is on country road. It is mostly a lazy downhill but does include a couple of uphills. A short single track section takes the bikes off the country road and into the back of Rosehill Mall\, Port Alfred. A total of 58 km.No post_id and/or template

DESCRIPTION:The Lowveld Tour from 9 to 12 August 2018 will take place in Swadini this year. Traditionally the Tour took place around Graskop\, Mpumalanga\, but due to unsafe road conditions in that area\, the event was moved to a different venue.  The new routes will provide safe roads and a completely new challenge to the loyal cyclists that part-take in the Lowveld Tour every year.  It will also offer new-comers the opportunity to explore new routes in a safe and controlled environment.\nThe main feature of this Tour is stage 2\, when cyclists will face the route from Swadini towards Graskop\, leading through the Abel Erasmus Pass and JG Strijdom Tunnel.  This landmark is the link between the game reserves of Limpopo and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon of Mpumalanga\, giving cyclists the opportunity to travel on the actual route used by the gold rush pioneers in the late 1800’s.  Be warned though\, this route is not for the feint-hearted\, \nThe warm water swimming pool at Swadini\, a Forever Resort will welcome riders to relax in after a hard days’ cycling; perfect for the cold winter. \nApart from the accommodation at Swadini and Blyde Canyon Forever Resorts\, there are a number of guest houses in the area which will suit your accommodation requirements. DESCRIPTION:South Africa’s newest most exciting Team Road Cycle Racing and Team Moutain Bike Racing event will be held on the 10-12th August 2018 at Sugar Rush Park\, west of Ballito on the KZN North Coast.  \nThe Liberty 250 is a 3-Day Team Road Cycling stage race through the spectacular scenery of the rolling farmlands on the North Coast. Teams of 4 or 2 will compete over the 123km on Day 1\, 87km on Day 2 and 40km on Day 3. Days 1 & 2 feature several King of the Mountain sections and Day 3 features a sprint.  \nThe Liberty 150 is a 3-Day Team MTB stage race over new and existing trails of the magnificent Holla Trails based at Sugar Rush Park. Teams of 2 will tackle 65km on Day 1\, 53km on Day 2 and 32km on the final day. All events offer Male\, Female and Mixed team categories as well as a solo option.  \nBoth events will be timed and the entry fee includes your timing chip in the race pack.
