SUMMARY:Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 10th annual Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge & Trail Run\, sponsored by Boland SUPERSPAR. The trails will take you through the beautiful fruit farms and fynbos hidden away on top of the Piket-Bo-Berg Mountain. \nYou can enjoy fantastic food and a vibrant atmosphere – a Beer tent and shaded seating at the finish line for all our spectators welcoming riders and runners home. \nThe following routes are available: \n\nthe 63km MTB Challenge:\n\n(1 600m ascent\, 62% single-track\, 7/10 technical score).\nIdeal for experienced riders.\n\n\nthe 37km MTB Challenge:\n\n(700m ascent\, 62% single-track\,6/10 technical score).\nFor riders looking to build technical skills and fitness.\n\n\nthe 27km MTB Challenge:\n\n(594m ascent\, 44% single-track\, 4/10 technical score).\nA great introduction to our trails for fitness and skill.\n\n\nthe 12km MTB Challenge:\n\n(207m ascent\, 25% single-track\, 2/10 technical score).\nComplete with a pump track and introductory single-track.\n\n\n\nRide for a GREAT CAUSE! This event is organised by The Piket-Bo-Berg Residents Association\, the local NPO. All the funds raised through this event are invested in skills development and education\, creating a better future for all in our community. \nWe look forward to sharing our small-town hospitality with you\, while you enjoy some of the best trails on offer. \nPLEASE NOTE NO E-BIKES ALLOWED. \nNo E-go… Indeed\, after some deliberation a final call was made NOT to allow E-bikes at the Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge. The reasons are simple – due to the technical nature of the trails and the large amount of singletrack (which run through very remote mountainous areas) we would like to avoid congestion as far as possible – our trails don’t always allow for passing. Taking into account the speeds of E-bikes\, rider safety is another big concern on our technical sections. We trust you understand. However\, do stay tuned to our social channels and join our mailing list to be notified of possible future e-bike events. \nCLOSING DATE: \n\n04 September 2019.\n\nClick here for more info and to enter online

SUMMARY:The Rock Stage Race and Trail Fest
DESCRIPTION:The inaugural Rock Stage Race and Trail Run Festival took place in 2018 with the stated aim of establishing Paarl’s signature MTB and Trail Run weekend. The event was an incredible success and is now a permanent feature on the calender. The 2019 event takes place over the weekend of 27-29 September\, hosted at the beautiful Spice Route Destination and Rhebokskloof Estate on the slopes of the Paarl Moutain. \nThe 2019 Rock Stage Race and Trail Festival is the very fortunate benefactor of a strategic partnership between Hero Adventure and the City of Drakenstein and will have access to more than 200km of trails on the magnificent Paarl Mountain over the weekend of 27-29 September. The Rock Stage Race\, organised by Hero Adventure\, presents three sublime stages ranging from 40km-54km daily. The first stage runs from Malmesbury to Paarl and the event then settles in Paarl for the second and third stages on the Paarl Mountain. At an entry fee of R1350 per rider the event has positioned itself as the ideal training ride for the FNB Wines2Whales\, which takes place a month later. \n“We really can pick and choose from the trails for The Rock this year and the end result is that more than 80% of the route will be on single track\,” said race director Darren Herbst from Hero Adventure. “We have been building trails on the Paarl Mountain for the past two years and it’s going to be wonderful to showcase the latest additions to these trails during The Rock.” Entries for The Rock are limited to 500 riders and just over 250 entries have already been received. Riders can enter solo or as two-rider teams. \nDay 1 Malmesbury – Rhebokskloof: 54km – 1300m elevation\nDay 2 Rhebokskloof – Spice Route: 43km – 950m elevation\nDay 3 Spice route – Rhebokskloof: 48km – 1300m elevation \nSaturday 28 September 2019 is the big hosting day at Spice Route Destination. The destination artisan village hosts the finish of “The Rock” MTB Stage race with live bands and lots of entertainment while the following events will also start and finish at Spice Route as part of the Trail Fest:\n07h00: 21km Trail Run\n08h45: 25km MTB Traverse\n09h15: 10km MTB Family Traverse\n10h30: 5km kiddies MTB \nThe Rock moves to Rhebokskloof Estate on Sunday 29 September with the following events starting and finishing at Rhebokskloof:\n07h15: 10km Trail Run – start and finish at Rhebokskloof\n07h30: 5km Trail Run – start and finish at Rhebokskloof\n09h00: 2km Kiddies Obstacle Trail Run – start and finish at Rhebokskloof

SUMMARY:The Greyton Pie Run MTB Gravel Grinder
DESCRIPTION:The Pie Run Gravel Grinder is a charity event with all proceeds being split between the GGMTB Kids Riding Club and the GGMTB Club. All funds received by the GGMTB Club go directly back into trail building and trail maintenance. \nGreyton Mountain Bikers are pleased to present the second running of the 76 and 30 km gravel grinder event in September 2019. \nAfter the success of last year’s event and very positive feedback received from entrants\, we are putting on the same event and attempting to set the standard even higher than before. The event caters for both pure gravel grinders and mountain bikers to cycle stunningly scenic gravel roads through the Overberg countryside in the late spring season. Wheat and barley fields\, yellow flowering canola and blue cranes against the backdrop of the magnificent Riviersonderend mountain range will delight all participants. This is a supported race with three fully stocked refreshment points for the longer distance and one for the shorter ride. The voluntary stop in Riviersonderend for a “pie and coffee” at the Ou Meul is a must and will energize you for the return leg of the race. \nFor those persons returning to do the event for a second time\, please note a change in start/finish venue which will now be at the newly opened Hub & Spoke MTB Café in DS Botha Street. \nGreyton Village market has grown in stature since last year and will provide a great interlude for family and friends not taking part in the event\, along with all the other attractions and entertainment offerings in the village. \nLook out for accommodation specials in Greyton Village for Pie Run participants if you are planning to spend the weekend in Greyton. \nProceeds from the race are used for the local kids cycling development program which has been running for six years and provides cycling equipment\, cycling outings and MTB training for youngsters from our local community. \nLate entries will be accepted on race morning with a late entry fee of R50. \nRace briefing will take place 15 minutes before the start of each batch.

SUMMARY:Medihelp TrapNET
DESCRIPTION:Medihelp trapNET is an annual road cycle event that takes place at the iconic SuperSport Park\, Centurion. The 95km route is an official seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. \nMoving the date from its original Winter time-slot to early Spring is just one of the enhancements made by the organisers to create a better experience for the event’s participants\, who will explore the streets of Tshwane along the undulating route. Five top-quality refreshment stations along the route and finish village entertainment will maximise the experience for participants and their supporters alike\, while the prize purse of R65 000 and prizes for all category winners add to the event’s appeal. \nIn an effort to establish the Medihelp trapNET as the crown jewel of the Tshwane region\, the organisers are currently working closely with the City of Tshwane and Traffic Authorities to secure full road closure for the event. The event enjoyed 80% road closures in 2018\, but achieving full road closures during a mass participation cycle race enhances the safety of all cyclists\, while first-time participants benefit from cycling with more confidence in a controlled race environment. \nAfter the event’s successful inaugural staging in 2018\, Medihelp\, kykNET and the City of Tshwane return as event partners for 2019. The event also recently secured the support of new sponsors\, Twizza and Mango Airlines. \nImprove Seeding At Major Cycling Events \nThe Medihelp trapNET is an important event on the race calendar for those cyclists hoping to improve their seeding in other major events. \nThe Medihelp trapNET is the final cycling event that can be used to improve cyclists’ seeding for the 947 Cycle Challenge\, while the event is also an official seeding event of the 2020 Cape Town Cycle Tour. \nAction Packed Race Weekend With Expo\, Junior Race \nIn addition to the 95km challenge on Race Day\, race weekend includes activities for the whole family. After collecting their race numbers at SuperSport Park on 27 and 28 September\, participants and their families can linger a little longer and visit the race expo for the latest sports and healthy lifestyle merchandise. \nYounger cyclists will also have the opportunity to show off their skills in the trapNET Junior Challenge on Saturday\, 28 September\, during which children can complete a one\, two or three-lap course within the secure SuperSport Park precinct. Junior Challenge entries will open on 1 July. \nThe event proudly supports CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation\, the only organisation in South Africa that provides comprehensive countrywide support for children with cancer\, life-threatening blood disorders and their families. \n
