SUMMARY:Carnival City Macsteel National MTB Race
DESCRIPTION:This fourth edition of this fast and flat race\, with a mix of single and jeep track. A choice of 60km\, 35km and family friendly jeans. \n60Km Route\nThe route starts and finishes inside the Carnival City outside entertainment area\, west of the Casino. \nDubbed “the Race“\, this route is suitable for all levels of rider\, but with about 380m of elevation gain\, this route is deceivingly tougher than it looks on paper. With a mix of single track\, jeep track\, district road\, gentle gradients as well as some short punchy climbs\, this is more than just a dirt-roadie race. \n\n3 Water points at 15Km\, 33Km and 52Km\, plus recovery drinks at the finish line;\nRoaming bike mechanics\, to assist with basic bike repairs\n\n34Km Route\nDubbed the “Fun ride“\, the event caters for the beginner to mid-level rider wanting to enjoy a mix of off-road terrains\, i.e. jeep track\, district road\, some single track\, minimal amounts of tar road and about 191m of elevation gain. Following the same route as the 60Km until the 18Km\, before riding the final 16Km of the 60Km route. There is ample space for the 60Km riders to pass\, but riders on this event are requested to keep left wherever possible. \n\n2 Water points at 15Km and 26Km\, plus recovery drinks at the finish line;\nRoaming bike mechanics\, to assist with basic bike repairs\n\n12Km or 6Km – Family Friendly*\nThis event is catered for the families that want to ride together\, without worrying about any technically-challenging sections that riders would experience on the two longer distance events. \nThis event will take in two laps (12Km) or one lap (6Km) respectively on a route inside the Carnival City premises. Mostly graded tracks\, with some minor drags (gentle uphills) and a few twists & turns. \nKids/parents have the choice to ride one or two laps\, whichever suits their fitness and/or experience. \n

SUMMARY:Cape Classic 380
DESCRIPTION:The Cape Classic will be based in Montagu\, in the Western Cape on the famous Route 62\, each day starting at the Montagu Country Hotel\, 27 Bath Street. \nDay 1 The Koo Valley – out and back\n8 November 2019 7:00 am Start at The Montagu Country Hotel\nRiders will assemble at the start venue and ride up the majestic Koo valley where the formidable Burgers and Rooihoogte passes await. In between the two climbs will be a light hearted time trial of 7.5kms for those who wish to compete for the sponsor’s prizes and also to beat the sponsor’s own average speed record of 52.9 kmph set in 2018. The Stage will be 100km long and involve a total climb of 1500m. We will ride as a peloton but given the nature of the climbs and descents some splintering of the groups will be inevitable. \nA little known but beautiful valley\, little used but with good road surfaces provides two challenging climbs on the way out and a lightning fast descent on the way back to our lunch stop at Oupa Batt se Winkel. After lunch a 39km cruise back to Montagu \nDay 2 The Tradouws\n9 November 2019 7:00 am Start at The Montagu Country Hotel\nWe head out of Montagu again through the Cogmans Kloof pass and turn left before Ashton towards Swellendam At 35km we join the final part of the Coronation Double Century route passing over Bakoondhoogte pass and those rolling roads. Negotiating Swellendam with the assistance of Swellendam Provincial Traffic department will see us on the N2 before turning for Suurbraak and the stunning Tradouw Pass. After turning left onto the R62 a further 12 km will see us at our lunch stop at Joubert-Tradauw wine farm. Straight after lunch comes the climb of Op de Tradouw and its fast descent towards Montagu. The longest stage at 160km and 1870m of climbing will be challenging but rewarding. \nDay 3 A Cruise around the Breede River\n10 November 2019 7:00 am Start at The Montagu Country Hotel\nThe ride will be through the picturesque Breede River valley in a loop from Montagu out towards Robertson and returning via the outskirts of Bonnievale. The stage will be 105km and involve a less daunting 830m of climbing. The ride will be in a peloton with a designated Points Jersey section prior to our waterpoint stop at Bonnievale Cellars. We’ll cross the Breede River twice\, once via a trestle bridge and once over a drift bridge. Given the river valleys we will be going through the riding is mostly through lush rolling terrain\, although we do have a climb over Remhoogte on our return towards Ashton. Finishing in Montagu at the Kloof Padstall for a champagne reception\, lunch and prize giving. \nCape Classic – Early Bird Entry R3\,900 \nRetained at 2018 prices until 31 May 2019.  First 25 entries only – first come first served.  Includes: Saturday night braai and daily picnic lunches. \nCape Classic Entry R4\,300 \nIncludes: Saturday night braai and daily picnic lunches. \nBike Care Package R400 \nFrom Rikus Le Grange of Melkbos Cycles.  Wash\, lube\, tyre pressures\, brake and gear check and adjustment as necessary. SUMMARY:Langebaan Country Estate Cycle Challenge
DESCRIPTION:ROUTE DESCRIPTION \nThe event venue is on the driving range of the Langebaan Country Estate which is situated in the picturesque village of Langebaan. As the route winds through the West Coast National Park\, it takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery on the West Coast. The route closely hugs the shoreline of South Africa’s only saltwater lagoon as you pass through Strandveld vegetation before making your way across the peninsula that divides the Atlantic Ocean and the Langebaan Lagoon. Take time to appreciate the azure blue waters of this fantastic coastline as you pedal past landmarks such as Preekstoel\, Kraalbaai\, Geelbek and Schrywershoek. Be on the lookout for the many animals that roam the West Coast National Park\, as this in itself makes it a very special ride. The rolling hills have interesting names such as Skunk Hill\, Fanie se Kop and Seeberg and make for a challenging\, yet enjoyable day out. The ride finishes at the top of Stumpnose Rock (affectionately known as Mamba Hill) with a breath-taking view of the lagoon as the backdrop. \nDIRECTION TO VENUE \nFrom Cape Town\, take the R27 (West Coast road) past Melkbosstrand. Continue north on the R27 for some 90 km to the Langebaan turn-off at the One Stop Garage. Continue towards Langebaan and you will find the entrance to the Langebaan Country Estate on your left. Follow the signs to the registration venue. \nClick here to enter online

SUMMARY:7Passes
DESCRIPTION:The “Seven Passes MTB”\, powered by Toyota Knysna is back!  It’s happening on the 30th of November 2019.  The race start is on the Eastern side of George at the beautiful Glenwood House School. This route offers the perfect opportunity for gravel-bikers to take on the 29ers. E-bikers are also welcome on this non-technical route. Racing starts at 07H30 just before late registration between 06H00 and 07H00.  The first 5kms will roll as a neutral zone and only after the Old Kaaimans Bridge and once the lead Toyota vehicle and George Municipal traffic escort pulls away\, will the racing begin. The new start at Glenwood House gives riders official bragging rights for doing EIGHT\, yes\, 8 passes this year! The first dip being the Swartrivier Pass\, near the Garden Route Dam wall. \nSeven Passes MTB also offers a shorter route for younger or not so fit riders who still want to be part of the action.  Leeuwenbosch Dairies will once again support the 38km event which starts on Saturday morning from the Highlands Cash Store in the humble little village of Karatara. The start time for the shorter route is 09H30. \nLeaders of the longer 78km route are expected to pass the second water point\, located at the start of the 38km race and halfway between George and Knysna\, just before 09H30 \nThomas Bain was the legend who designed the road between George and Knysna in 1883 and experienced many challenges in the dense forest surrounds and also bumped heads with his brother-in-law\, Adam de Smidt with whom he shared the contract. On completion of the road the two never spoke again. The route crosses 10 rivers and 7 gorges between these two towns and passes through the quaint settlement of Rheenendal\, home to the brief gold rush in the 1880’s.  The final stretch into Knysna will lead riders over the red bridge and along the N2 to just after the first set of lights where riders will turn left and cross the Salt River following the road to ‘The Farm’ at the foot of the Simola Pass. \n‘The farm’ is a perfect place to enjoy a well-deserved Wood Fired pizza and any other delicious meal on the menu. Invite all your fans to watch you cross the line and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. A Pump track is available for kids to keep themselves busy while you enjoy the chilled atmosphere of this new finish venue. \nParticipants are invited to overnight in Knysna and join us and Knysna Sports School team for a supported ride back to George the next day.   You can leave your vehicle safely overnight at Glenwood House School.            A shuttle service will to available for overnight bags and will shuttle bags back to George on Sunday. The supported ride back to George on the Sunday morning will follow the Seven Passes route and is not a sanctioned event but rather a social ride\, chatting pace. A sweep vehicle will support the Sunday social ride back to George. \nClick here to enter online

SUMMARY:PPA Sportive 8
DESCRIPTION:The 8th race in the Sportive series for 2019. (although techically the seventh because one was postponed) \nOnline entries:  Click here to enter. Close on Thursday 28th November 2019 @midnight. \nLate entries: Available on the day of the event \nThe 86 km route will have 4 water points and the 51 km route will have 2 water points. \nMORE ABOUT THE SPORTIVE SERIES \nThis series is aimed at all cyclists\, from beginners to experienced riders\, and offers the perfect platform if you want to keep fit riding road events throughout the year\, improving your times and setting a new personal best. If you’re brave enough to take on the challenge of the longer routes\, the series is a great test for endurance and stamina …and needless to say\, completing all the events will be a great source of personal achievement. No pressure though! Each one is also a standalone event\, so you don’t have to enter all in the Sportive Series. \nFollowing this event\, there will be one more event held at Perdeberg Winery. THis is the SPortive #7 which we had postponed and will not be held on 8th of December 2019 \nTHE SPECIAL FINISHER’S TROPHY \nThis year\, we have decided to do away with medals and do something more innovative and challenging – you will get a beautiful 3D bicycle puzzle that you can assemble once you have completed all the events. The way it will work is that after each event\, you will receive a few pieces of the trophy … complete all eight events and you can assemble the little road bike on a stand. \nHowever\, even you haven’t done all the Sportive Series events\, or won’t manage to do all the events\, you’ll still be able to buy the missing pieces at a very reasonable cost at the Sportive #8. We still want everyone to have that trophy to display at their home or office.

SUMMARY:STRADA24
DESCRIPTION:On 7 – 8 December 2019\, cyclists from Jozi and around the country will embark on the first ever 24 hour road cycle race in Africa! \nThe Strada24 begins at 12h00 on Saturday and ends at 12h00 on Sunday. Racers will log-off the course from 12 noon on Sunday. Each team’s final placing will be determined by the number of laps the team has completed and the sequential order of finish within the team’s last lap. For example\, a team that has completed 22 laps with a finish time of 12:31 p.m. would beat a team that completed 22 laps\, with a finish time of 12:47 p.m. And of course\, a team that completed 23 laps\, with a finish time of 1 p.m.\, would beat them both. If a racer logs- out before 12 noon and no other team member logs-in\, the last completed lap time will be the finish time. \nThe venue \nJust 55km’s from Johannesburg\, The circuit at Red Star was designed to have challenging corners that flow from the apex of one to the entry of another. This ensure a challenge for rides of all levels\, while at the same time providing spectator value.

SUMMARY:Cyclo Pro Fat Tracks Longmore Classic
DESCRIPTION:The Longmore Classic was established in 1996 as an annual mountain bike race set in the Longmore Forest plantation just outside Port Elizabeth. \nThere are 3 distances to choose from\, with varying degrees of difficulty\, meaning there’s something to suit everyone.\n\nThe 50km feature race is a tough one\, don’t let the relatively short distance fool you! Incorporating some challenging mountain biking terrain with plenty of climbing in the Longmore Forest\, you’ll be treated to spectacular views and rewarding downhills. A good portion of the route includes pristine\, purpose-built singletrack of the 3 Rivers Trails network. There are 4 water points on the 50km race route.\n\nThe 30km in-betweener is a great option for those who enjoy having some fun on the trails with a little less hill climbing. This route features proportionately more of the 3 Rivers Trails singletrack\, and less of the challenging climbs that are part of the 50km route. There are 3 water points on the 30km race route.\n\nThe 15km is a great introduction race for newcomers or those just wanting a shorter ride. This route excludes the challenging hills that are synonymous with Longmore Forest and rather takes in the scenery and trails around the Crossways Estate. There is 1 water point on the 15km route.\n\nThe 5km is a short\, easy ride through Crossways Farm Village. Children under 10 to be accompanied by an adult.\n\nGoody bags for first 500 entries.
