Team Suzuki Making A Difference Through Cycling!

Suzuki is passionate about mountain biking, and since the birth of its Suzuki MTB team in 2017, the brand has worked at its vision to uplift youth through cycling.

Shoshanguve Mountain Bike Team Project

Suzuki has partnered with the Shoshanguve Mountain Bike Team Project, an organisation that enables underprivileged children of the Soshanguve township in Pretoria, to get out and ride.

Like Suzuki, the Shoshanguve Mountain Bike Team Project’s mission is to keep children off the streets through cycling. The organisation provides youth with training, but face many obstacles in doing so: they have to rent a taxi and trailer every time the kids need to go train, with many of the bikes being worn and in dire need of maintenance.

The Shoshanguve Mountain Bike Team Project relies on donations from the community for bike maintenance and to fund other cycling items the kids may need. This can easily put a halt to the youth’s training, but thanks to Suzuki, mechanical issues and equipment has been taken care of.

“Cycling equipment is really expensive, so Suzuki decided to get involved and [call on our contacts in the industry to] try getting the kids of Soshanguve township some proper equipment and transport,” says Suzuki SA.

With the help of UVEX, Avalanche, Diamond Trailers, A3Studio and Like2bike, Suzuki has managed to achieve its goal and assist the project with 15 Uvex helmets, 14 Avalanche Bicycles, 20 Sets of cycling kit and a new trailer to transport bicycles to training locations.
