SA’s Premier 2-Day Mountain Biking Experience where we celebrate the origin of South African mountain biking through the network of magnificent trails within Stellenbosch and it’s surroundings. Experience on-route offerings different to the norm whilst having a base at the Race Village filled with festivities and good and wholesome food.

What is unique at the new revamped 2018 Origin of Trails Experience:

– ENTER and pay before 14 September 2018 (long and medium events) and RECEIVE a unique Origin of Trails cycling jersey
– The addition of a fun ride on Saturday 24 November of between 8 and 10km. Bring the kids to ride. (Excluding jersey, cap and meals)
– Day 1 finisher cap and much more (excluding Fun Ride)
– Quality lunch offering and breakfast zone
– The addition of a the Origin of Trails Trail Run
– Corporate / Companies entries

Stellenbosch is a mountain biker’s paradise with a network of trails that can keep riders entertained for days. Since its first year in 2013, the Origin of Trails has made use of the existing trail network in Stellenbosch, whilst also adding in its own unique flourishes with specially built and event-only exclusive trails. Make a weekend of it by enjoying the pleasures Stellenbosch has to offer with world class restaurants, quaint coffee shops and numerous “watering holes”, it’s an ideal place to unwind.

Starting in the stunning centuries old town, riders make their way to the mountains to tackle jeep track, singletrack, steep climbs and pulsating descents – everything you’d want in a two-day stage race with exciting on route and race village experiences. Legendary mountain bike spots like Jonkershoek form part of the route, while access is also granted to farms that are usually off-limits to bikes.

The main benefactor of the Origin of Trails is the Stellenbosch Trail Building Fund which is committed to further developing the trails in Stellenbosch and sealing the town’s reputation as a global mountain biking destination.
