Orbea Appoints Ikhambi as New South African Distributor
A strategic partnership built on shared values and service excellence.
Spanish bike brand Orbea has announced a strategic shift in its Southern African operations, confirming Ikhambi Distribution as its new official importer and distributor in South Africa, effective immediately.
The move signals a renewed focus on strengthening local support structures and aligning the brand’s global values with on-the-ground service delivery. Known for its cooperative business model, European manufacturing base and bike customisation offering, Orbea says the partnership is aimed at elevating both dealer and rider experience in the region.
Ikhambi is already a well-established player in the South African cycling industry, with a portfolio of premium performance brands and a reputation for strong retail relationships. Its existing infrastructure – including warehousing, distribution and brand management – is expected to streamline availability and improve after-sales support for Orbea customers.

What this means for riders and dealers
From a rider perspective, the transition should translate into more consistent stock access, improved turnaround times on warranties and technical queries, and a more cohesive brand presence across both retail and digital channels.
For dealers, the partnership brings Orbea into a broader ecosystem of high-end cycling products, potentially simplifying procurement while strengthening the premium offering available to local riders.
Importantly, Orbea has emphasised continuity during the handover. All existing orders, warranty claims and technical requests will now be handled directly by Ikhambi, with the goal of ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption.
For South African riders, the change represents more than just a distribution update. It’s a move that could meaningfully improve how one of Europe’s most recognisable bike brands shows up in the local market.
