A note from the organisers:
Following our concerns for the state of the Brondal Road, which span many years now, Mpumalanga traffic authorities have afforded the Jock use of the N4 and an alternative route past the Kruger National Airport for the first stage. ASG spent weeks fixing potholes and repairing the deteriorating road surface last year prior to the Jock. Mpumalanga Provincial Government also did repairs on the road earlier this year, but it still isn’t ideal. After Consultation with a number of role players and the assistance of Mpumalanga Traffic we have made the call to change the 1st stage route The change doesn’t alter the nature of the challenge on the first stage and overall Jock, but it does bring piece of mind for the organisation and we thank Mpumalanga Traffic for there support . The Race distance does increase by just over 2km to 44km
