All-New Specs, Fresh Look For 2020 Canyon Grail Range

New paint jobs and upgraded groupsets for Canyon's 2020 gravel range

Canyon has revamped the most innovative gravel bike on the scene for 2020 with fresh new colours and the latest gravel-specific componentry. Standout paint jobs are now available to complement an already head-turning design, meaning the latest Grail CF SLX and SL models don’t blend in when you’re out in the wilds.

The 2020 Grail line-up features more off-road-friendly gearing than previous generations so it’s more capable than ever, with Shimano’s new gravel-specific GRX groupsets and SRAM Eagle technology across the entire portfolio. Steep pitches and fast descents require a broad range, which is exactly what you get from the new 48/31 and 46/30 GRX chainsets, married to 11-34 rear cassettes on all Shimano-equipped Grail models. For one-by purists, SRAM’s mountain bike-conquering X01 Eagle technology now combines with their wireless Force eTap AXS electronic groupset for a 500% range from the 10-50 cassette and a 42-tooth front chainring.

One of the lightest gravel portfolios on the scene…

Beyond new drivetrains, the Grail family maintains its class-leading geometry, while the award-winning Grail Cockpit continues to offer an innovative approach to ergonomics and control. Schwalbe’s confidence-inspiring 40 mm G-One Bite tyres partner with gravel-specific wide rims from DT Swiss and Reynolds, all delivered tubeless-ready.

On top of components designed to tackle the rigours of gravel riding head-on, the Grail continues to deliver benchmark-setting performance. One of the lightest gravel portfolios on the scene is achieved thanks to incredibly lightweight, yet robust carbon frames; just 830 g in SLX form and 1040 g for SL models (both size M). The range-topping Grail CF SLX 8.0 eTap and Di2 models both tip the scales at 8.3 kg, putting even some high-end road bikes to shame.

Nine models make up the 2020 carbon Grail range, starting at R37 000 (excl. duties and taxes) for the mechanical Shimano GRX 600-equipped Grail CF SL 7.0 and women’s-specific Grail WMN CF SL 7.0. Sitting at the top of the tree is the thoroughbred Grail CF SLX 8.0 ETAP, featuring SRAM’s wireless AXS shifting and new full-carbon DT Swiss GRC1400 wheels for R82 000 (excl. duties and VAT)
