Crazy Light. Crazy Fast. Meet Trek’s New Émonda SLR.
Trek's Émonda has always offered a delicious combination of flat-out speed and climbing agility - the new version does both even better.
The all-new Trek Émonda has aerodynamic tube shaping that helps riders go faster than ever on flats and climbs alike. And because Trek refused to sacrifice weight for speed, Émonda still has the incredible lightweight ride quality and balanced handling that made it a racing legend in the first place.
The all-new Émonda SLR is faster than its predecessor (and its competition) on almost any climb. And the steeper the grade, the bigger the benefit. Trek’s test labs have shown the new Emonda SLR’s 182g aero saving to be a minute faster, per hour, on the flats and 18 seconds per hour faster on an 8% gradient. When you are full-chat – that is a marked advantage.
The new Émonda SLR frame still weighs less than 700 g, but all-new aero tube shaping adds even more speed. It takes more material to make aero shapes, but Trek refused to compromise on weight – so it developed all-new 800 Series OCLV Carbon for Émonda SLR. Trek used HEEDS optimisation software as a starting point to help determine a range of possible tube shapes. To find the lightest yet fastest ones, it took thousands of variables into account and analysed thousands of design iterations for each and every tube. In fact, every dot on this graph represents a different software-simulated frame.
HEEDS helped define the limit of optimal aero and weight combinations, known as a Pareto front – the curve the data points create on the left side of the chart. Engineers analysed the options, decided which combinations to prototype for further testing, and began the long process of fine-tuning the balance between ideal frame shape and superior ride feel.
You can’t have a fast bike without fast parts, so HEEDS analysis was also used to find the optimal aero shapes for the all-new Bontrager Aeolus wheels and bar/stem. They’re purpose-built for Émonda SLR, and they come spec’d on every SLR model.

Trek-Segafredo’s prototype testing and feedback was critical in getting Émonda’s ride feel perfectly tuned. Now they’ll be racing on a bike that’s amazing to ride and engineered for more speed on any terrain.
