Cross-country racing continues to evolve, with courses becoming faster, rougher and more technically demanding. The Trek Procaliber 9.6 Gen 3 recognises this evolution, blending classic hardtail efficiency with modern geometry and improved comfort to create a bike that’s fast, nimble… and did we say fast?

Built for Modern XC Racing

With a lightweight carbon frame designed for efficient power transfer and rapid acceleration, this is a hardtail that rewards riders who want responsive handling and speed on climbs. At the same time, the updated geometry ensures it doesn’t feel out of its depth when the trail gets rough.

A slacker 67-degree head angle and longer reach improve stability and confidence at speed, particularly on descents and technical sections. Paired with fast-rolling 29-inch wheels, the Procaliber maintains momentum with ease and delivers predictable handling when pushing the pace.

IsoBow: Lighter, Smoother, Better

The Gen 3 Procaliber introduces Trek’s new IsoBow technology, replacing the IsoSpeed system used on previous versions. IsoBow extends the seatstays beyond the seat tube, allowing controlled vertical flex that helps dissipate trail vibrations from roots, rocks and rough surfaces.

The result is a ride that feels smoother and less fatiguing over long distances, without compromising the direct, efficient feel expected from a race hardtail. By reducing material in the frame design, IsoBow also contributes to a lighter overall package, which is a clear advantage for both short-track efforts and marathon racing.

Race-Ready Components

The Procaliber 9.6 Gen 3 is equipped with a mix of Shimano SLX and XT drivetrain components, delivering a wide gear range and consistent shifting performance.

Up front, a RockShox Reba RL fork with 120mm of travel adds meaningful control on rougher XC courses, helping the bike stay composed through roots, rocks and high-speed technical sections without dulling its climbing efficiency.

Internal cable routing and stiff thru-axles round out the build, contributing to clean aesthetics, reduced maintenance and precise handling under load.

Who Is It For?

This bike is aimed squarely at cross-country racers and performance-focused riders who want maximum efficiency with added comfort. It’s an excellent option for competitive XC athletes, or if you ride a mix of surfaces regularly and you want one lightweight bike that can handle them all.

The Bottom Line

Fast, light and notably smoother than a traditional hardtail, the Procaliber 9.6 delivers a refined experience. With updated geometry, increased front-end travel and IsoBow technology, it will help you climb faster, stay fresher and push harder.
