Zini bikes offer a superbly cost-effective entry to cycling for the whole family, with bikes ranging from 20″ rippers – with disc brakes – that will help junior scare the living daylights out of you, all the way up to wallet-friendly 29-inch ‘adult’ machines that give you all the tools you need to keep up with your tearaways. While developing the new Zini range of bikes, the firm’s emphasis was, and always will be, on producing quality bikes at an affordable price. In researching the launch of the brand, Zini was interested as to why people cycle and what the bicycle means to them. The reality is that so many people ride for different reasons, from the racing cyclist to the commuter and everything in between. The ever-expanding range tries to speak to as many as possible – Zini remains  “intrigued by these stories and really want to celebrate them”

In Bryan Habana’s case, having spent most of his life living in hotel rooms thanks to the travel demands of a modern professional sportsman, but recently retired from rugby, life has not slowed down and if anything, Bryan’s schedule is more demanding that ever as he tries to juggle a hectic work schedule with family life. Going out for a ride with his eldest son after work provides a perfect opportunity for them to connect on a one-on-one basis. Zini people, in a nutshell.

The 20″ range is based on a 6061 alloy frame – so it is relatively light in a market where bikes regularly outweigh their riders –  with an active suspension fork, seven-speed gearing and disc brakes. 2.4″ knobbly rubber on lightweight alloy rims give Junior plenty of grip, both in the corners and when the powerful cable-actuated disc or vee brakes bite, and the gearing is broad enough for pretty much all the riding you might tackle at this age.

As the little treasures grow, they can move up through the Zini range, with 24-inch and 26-inch-wheeled bikes offering a range of sizing that will fit any stage and riding aspirations, again with top-quality aluminium frames and reliable, sturdy equipment choices that will have you spending your time on the trail, not in the garage fixing stuff.

The 26″ machine also comes with hydraulic discs, perfect for the extra exploration and demands your tween/teen will generating, and super-grippy 2.3″ Wanda tyres for ride-anywhere grip and control.

And then we get to the adult machines. Mom and dad get a choice of 3 29-inch-wheeled spec options, each offering quality and durability without breaking the bank.

Choose between 1×11, 2×9 and 1×12 gearing, your local bike shop will be more than happy to guide you on what will suit your riding aspirations, all with powerful hydraulic disc brakes, fat and grippy off-road tyres, alloy rims and Zini’s 6061 alloy frame with smooth welds, internal cable routing, tapered headtube and a replaceable dropout.

Alloy bars and stem, sorted suspension forks and carefully-chosen saddles round out the spec sheets that have plainly been chosen by cyclists, for cyclists.
