When Cape Town cycling kit manufacturer Ciovita was announced as the new technical apparel partners for the Absa Cape Epic and its global Epic Series partner races in late 2021, it offered the firm a superb opportunity to get stuck into creating their most technical racing jerseys yet. The men and women who qualify to wear the leader jerseys at these events are the world’s best – Olympic, World and National champions – and already wear cutting-edge kit with their trade teams. Having an event leader’s jersey that met their rightfully-exacting requirements was a no-brainer.

A large part of Ciovita’s offering in recent years has been providing custom cycling kit to numerous teams participating in events around the world and now there was the opportunity to showcase its technical know-how, focused integration of the latest fabrics and design on a truly global stage.

The result – after many months of prototyping on local racing snakes –  is packed with world class features and was meticulously crafted by a dedicated team to ensure that they stand out and offer the leaders everything they need to perform at their peak in a wide range of challenging conditions – it made its debut at the 2022 Absa Cape Epic where anything, and everything, can happen, where bikes and bodies come to be tested, and where kit can be the difference between beating the heat or succumbing to the cold.

  • Industry leading 3D Nanotech fabric (superior, Italian-produced 4 way stretch fabric that is breathable, quick drying, anti-snagging and lightweight).
  • Welded front hem and silicone-sealed sleeve ends for a secure and comfortable fit
  • Strategic ventilation panels and UV protection to help riders deal with the elements while they’re racing
  • Form-fitting pro cut that is ergonomically designed with forward-fitting sleeves to ensure the garment performs at its peak while riders are in the racing position on the bike.
The jersey was designed and manufactured in-house and tested locally, produced in a range of colours for each race category of the iconic Absa Cape Epic, and will be rolled out to meet the requirements of each Series event as required.
