Toyota’s all-new Urban Cruiser has launched with the appropriate tagline of Go Find Your Fun; perfect for a compact SUV that prioritises frugal fuel consumption and sensible space usage for carrying any manner of expeditionary stuff.

Space is essential when it comes to finding your fun. Sporting a bigger body length, a more spacious 353-litre boot with luggage shelf and strings, and 60/40 split rear folding seats, loading larger objects and luggage will be a breeze. It is bigger and bolder than the previous generation Urban Cruiser – seat five adults in comfort, or slot in your bike with the seats folded flat for a spur-of-the moment visit to the trails – without sacrificing small-car manoeuvrability and looks.

Edgy styling and an array of gizmos make the Urban Cruiser instantly Instagrammable, no matter where it takes you; a slatted, bi-tone black and chrome grille, a rear roof spoiler, LED Daytime Running Lights and Bi-halogen headlights complete this new bolder look, along with with striking 17-inch alloys and accessory-ready roof rails (on certain models). A head turner, in the urban jungle or the real thing.

Maxed out on creature comforts the all-new Urban Cruiser makes finding fun a dream. Electric folding mirrors and Rear Park Distance Control with Rear Camera make parking easy, while the light reminder warning feature ensures your Urban Cruiser is always ready to go. Additionally, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay will make sure that you’ll never miss a beat on your adventures and Push Start button and Cruise Control (on certain models) complete the tech package.

Adapted for the new Urban Cruiser is the familiar 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine delivering 77kW and 138Nm of torque. Providing animated performance with a top speed clocking in at 170 and 175 km/h for the manual and auto respectively, its star quality really comes to the fore when you have to fill up – fuel consumption is pegged at a penny-pinching 6,1 L/100km in the combined cycle. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic (XR) – all driving the front wheels. The suspension system features MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. The set-up is perfectly calibrated for all driving conditions, providing a pliant ride that strikes the right balance between control and comfort.

And then there’s Toyota’s legendary reliability and safety: The all-new Urban Cruiser assures that you and your family are forever out of harm’s way when finding your fun. The big news on the safety front is the fitment of VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) and HAC (Hill Assist Control) to all models. But that’s not all – a rear centre headrest along with a third rear ELR seatbelt is now also standard. Whether on school run or road trips, a wireless door lock with smart entry, and an alarm with an immobiliser system, provide security and convenience on the go. Finally, Rear Child Lock, ISOFIX (child restraint system) with side and curtain airbags (on certain models) for the driver and passenger provide that all-important safety as well as peace of mind on every journey.

Test drive the all-new Toyota Urban Cruiser today, and Go Find Your Fun.
