Trek Madone 8: Fall in Love with Going Fast
The latest Madone blends low weight and aerodynamics for all-round riding bliss.
Trek launched the Madone Gen 8 just before the Tour de France in 2024. The bike was designed with input from the world’s top racers, like Mads Pedersen, to be the best wherever you ride it, whether you’re powering up climbs or sprinting across the finish line. It’s a merging of the brand’s two iconic superbikes: as light as the Émonda and as aerodynamic as the previous Madone.
Madone Gen 8 replaces the Madone Gen 7 and the Émonda, but its legacy is far greater than any one bike. You get all the benefits of a lightweight climbing bike in an aerodynamic package that eats up the kilometres on the flats.
Put the new Madone next to the old one and the differences are immediately apparent. The tubes are noticeably slimmer, especially the down tube and seat stays, and it’s nearly 300g lighter than the SLR gen 7. The Trek engineers did an enormous amount of work on the bike’s aerodynamics, using modelling software and wind-tunnel testing, to come up with a whole new set of tube profiles that work in unison to improve the air flow around the bike and rider. There are new bottle cages and bottles designed for the bike, and a new integrated cockpit with narrow, flared bars. The IsoFlow design at the seat post/top tube junction has been retained.

The SLR is the World Tour-level machine, but the new Madone is also available in an SL variant, which shares all the same revolutionary frame shapes as the SLR model but keeps costs down with more economical 500 Series OCLV carbon and two-piece handlebar/stem combos.
