How do you improve a pair of bib shorts that riders already reach for day after day?

For CIOVITA, the answer was to listen, test and refine – rather than start again.

The new Corsa Avia builds on the Corsa 2.0, retaining its familiar chamois while introducing updates to the fabric, fit and construction. Before its launch, the bib shorts underwent more than 500 hours and 6,000 kilometres of real-world testing.

The idea was simple: improve the details that affect comfort on the bike, without losing what made the original a favourite.

Keeping what works

At the centre of the Corsa Avia is an updated, recycled Italian Lycra – the same fabric used in CIOVITA’s Supremo range. Combined with a refined fit and construction, it’s designed to provide support and comfort whether you’re doing a short morning spin or a long race.

One feature that remains unchanged is the Corsa 2.0’s chamois. According to CIOVITA’s head of R&D, Lauren Neethling, the decision was deliberate. “The original chamois is South Africa’s most used, trusted and proven one,” she says. “Our aim was to improve everything else around it.”

It’s a sensible approach to product development: if a feature already works for a broad range of riders, there’s good reason to leave it alone!

The Corsa Avia also gets an updated silicone leg gripper, intended to keep the shorts in place without creating unnecessary pressure.

Updates for Women

For women, the Corsa Avia introduces an updated Pace harness construction. This design aims to make nature breaks easier without requiring riders to remove their jerseys and other upper layers.

The changes to the new Corsa bibs aren’t about reinventing the design. They’re about refining a familiar piece of kit, with attention to the details that affect how it feels and functions on the bike.
