Paarl Cycle Tour

There are three routes around Paarl Mountain, measuring 102 km, 70 km and 45 km.
All three routes have a common start point at De Poort from where riders will pass the Paarl Mall and Arboretum before turning right onto the Wemmershoek Road, passing under the N1 before turning left onto Drakenstein Road passing fruit orchards before crossing over the N1 near the Huguenot Toll Plaza. Riders cycle through olive grove country along Sonstraal and Swawelstert Roads before turning right onto Piet Retief Street. Riders turn left into Champagne Street and then pass over the railway line before the R44/Stokery Road traffic lights.
102 km route – NEW ROUTE!!
At the R 44/Stokery Road traffic lights riders continue straight before turning right at the R44/R45 four-way stop before heading past the Paardeberg Prison along the Voorpaardeberg Road. Riders will then proceed towards the R302 and along Slent Road before turning right onto the R44 at Windmeul and making their way back via the Suid-Agter Paarl Road to finish near Strawberry King.
70 km route continued (783 m of ascent)
At the R 44/Stokery Road traffic lights, the riders turn right then shortly after left onto Lady Loch Road, and after crossing the Berg River they turn right towards the R45 for another right turn towards Malmesbury. After a climb, riders re-join the 102 km route along the R44 and follow the same route as the 102 km riders towards the finish.
45 km route continued (543 m of ascent)
Riders continue straight at R44/Stokery Road traffic lights in Champagne Street and on through the R 44/R45 four-way stop up the R44 where riders then pass the Paardeberg turn-off, re-joining the 102 km and 70 km routes. A further climb takes riders past Windmeul continuing to follow the R44 before turning left into Suid-Agter Paarl Road past Fairview to the last left turn and the sprint to the finish.
The long route will form part of the 2020 Official Premier Seeding Series of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
It is a fun-ride event aimed at the whole family and will have food and drinks available at the finish venue at De Poort. Various food stalls will offer tasty treats for sale and there will also be a Kidzone to keep the kids busy.
