Later, Spanish journalist Laura Meseguer Tweeted a pair of videos showing the incident from a different angle and, well, they tell another story:
As you can see, the man didn’t jump in front of the caravan on his own accord. Rather, he was running alongside the race when a police officer ran up from behind and pushed him—into the path of the motorcycle. After the crash, the cop continued to confront the man on the other side of the street. Clearly, the decision to shove him forward, rather than pull him back, left some asking questions on social media.
Elsewhere in the race, a video (see above) emerged of another spectator actually rushing out onto the course and shoving Russian cyclist Maxim Belkov, who rides for the Katusha-Alpecin team. Belkov staggered and then fell over the banner into the viewing area as the man who pushed him was restrained.
